Achieving animal spatial awareness with AI
Humans can ascertain the approximate position and size of an object just by looking at it. We have made a measurement device (high-speed position and orientation measurement device) that can do the same thing. Using our high-speed position and orientation measurement device, it is possible to do spatial measurements in unknown environments, so it is expected to be useful for the following projects. (1) Environmental shape measurement in the underwater decommissioning of nuclear reactors (2) Discovery and capture of unidentified organisms in the deep sea and ecological observation with tracking control (3) Dimensional measurement of fish that are swimming (marine products: fish farming), feed amount control by growth management, shipping time estimation, etc. (4) Exploration and recovery of deep-sea resources such as manganese nodules. (5) Assistance in removing naval mines with measuring position and orientation of mines, etc.

Automatic fish dimension measurement for aquaculture
It is able to automatically adjust the feeding amount by tracking the stage of growth based on the automatic size measurement of the fish. It does non-contact measurement of swimming fish, so it can prevent fish from being discarded due to scratches or damage caused by landing measurements. It can determine the number of fish that can be shipped, and shipping time, enabling management of fish inventory.
Underwater robot control system for maintenance of undersea structures for offshore wind farms
The submarine robot can be controlled to face underwater structures and keep the distance from underwater structures and the posture of the submarine robot constant. It can measure the distance between the photographed object and the camera, so it is possible to measure the size of scratches on underwater structures. A significant reduction in maintenance costs can be expected by automatically taking sequenced photographs of underwater structures. By docking to a wind power generation structure, it is possible to avoid stormy weather, charge the underwater robot, and transmit measurement data. It is possible to measure underwater, which is impossible with other companies' sensors that use infrared light.
