What is Sustimo?
It is a patented technology (PAT No. 3779290) developed mainly by the Tokyo Metropolitan Industrial Technology Research Institute and is made from finely ground cedar and cypress wood powder and sap extracted from lacquer trees. It is a 100% biomass molding material made entirely from plant resources. The material has almost the same level of physical strength as ABS resin and can be used for various applications because of its high heat resistance and antibacterial and antiviral properties.

The raw materials used are wood powder made from finely ground cedar, cypress, and other woods and sap from urushi (Japanese sumac) trees.

Sustimo molding has been scientifically verified for its antibacterial and antiviral effects inherent in lacquer, and its antibacterial*1 and antiviral*2 properties have been proven by the Kanagawa Institute of Industrial Science and Technology.

[Feature 3. Worldwide patents].
Sustimo's technology has been patented not only in Japan but also in five other countries.
*1 Antibacterial test (ISO 22196): Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli were reduced by 99.9% after 24 hours.
*2 Antiviral test (ISO 21702): Type A influenza virus was reduced by 99.9% after 24 hours.

By highly compressing Sustimo, a material of entirely natural origin, and substituting it for plastic, we can create complete biomass wood-plastic products.
