Iwamizawaimono Co., Ltd.

Manufacturing and sales of gray cast iron and ductile cast iron for public works had long been our company’s main business since its establishment. In recent years we have been working diligently on R&D in the special cast steel field, where added value can be increased. This eventually helped us improve performance through the development, manufacturing, and sale of new heat- and wear-resistant products. We are enhancing our selling point: our high technological capabilities in heat- and wear-resistant casting steel. This is being done through various initiatives, including use of the Strategic Core Technology Advancement Program. We are partnering with Muroran Institute of Technology to extend the service life of iron mill equipment parts. We are conducting R&D on highly heat- and wear-resistant multi-alloy cast iron material, and applying Monozukuri craftsmanship subsidies for capital investment and improvement of our manufacturing site. We are also trying to build a new business model to handle high-value-added, large-sized projects. We intend to reinforce our collaboration with other manufacturers. This includes firms operating in the fields of cast iron, cast steel, nonferrous metal casting, metalworking, castings, heat treatment, and wooden patterns, in 11 prefectures throughout Japan.

Sales Pitch

[Strengths of our company]
Since the establishment of our company, we have mainly manufactured and sold gray iron castings (FC) and ductile iron cast products (FCD) for public works. In recent years, we have been actively researching and developing special cast steel of high value and enhancing business productivity through the development, manufacture, and sale of new heat- and abrasion-resistant products. More concretely, we (1) utilize the Strategic Foundational Technology Improvement Support Operation (Supporting Industry), (2) cooperate with MURORAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY to research as well as develop multiple alloy cast iron materials, the heat- and abrasion-resistant properties of which are superior to those of the conventional materials, to further extend the life of parts of equipment in ironworks, and (3) try to further improve "high technical capabilities for heat- and abrasion-resistant cast steel," which are our strength, through measures such as capital investment and production site improvement for which manufacturing subsidies, etc. are utilized. Furthermore, we have been establishing new business models which allow us to respond to large-scale business projects of high value. We are strengthening ties with companies engaging in iron founding, steel casting, non-ferrous casting, metal processing, mold production, heat treatment, and wood pattern manufacturing in 11 prefectures in Japan.

[Representative’s Message]
Our company has grown its business through high-mix low-volume production of mainly regular castings such as gray cast iron (FC) and ductile cast iron (FCD). Sales have increased in recent years because exits from the market and bankruptcies of competitors have resulted in our entering the field of large-sized casting (1 ton and over). We also focus on special wear-resistant cast iron and cast steel production to enhance added value to our business. We hope to make use of J-GoodTech as a tool for transmitting and gathering information so we can cultivate markets and acquire business partners in the future. – Masato Shirai, Representative Director, Iwamizawa Casting Co., Ltd.
