However, although the unit itself is almost always usable, new batteries will be unavailable after production is discontinued.

Unlike other consumables, batteries are key functional parts, so it is not hard to imagine that there will probably be a very high impact after the end of the manufacturer's support, when batteries will no longer be available.

As long as the battery pack and charger are usable and there are no fatal failures in the functions other than those of the battery cells, you can recondition and refresh a battery as many times as you like.
