KANMAKI ”Pigment Foil”

Pigment foil is a thin film coated with pigment or adhesive used as an alternative to ink. It offers superior performance when it comes to expressing various colors and the presence it creates with its thickness and shiny appearance. Generally, a printing technique called “heat transfer” is used to decorate plastic, paper, wood, and other materials with the foil. As the name suggests, the foil is transferred using heat and pressure. In contrast to printing methods that make use of liquid ink, this method of decoration does not use oil-based inks or adhesives that contain harmful volatile organic compounds (VOCs). It also does not require toning or drying, which substantially shortens the process.
