Kyushu Medical Co., Ltd.

A new world of contributions to biotechnology

In our Bio Headquarters, we conduct research on microorganisms that are useful in people's lives, from a myriad of microorganisms in natural environments such as the ocean. We conduct research that is related to environmental measures such as deodorizing treatment, development of microbial fungicides, development of functional feeds containing microorganisms as main components, and the development of microbial control agents for mosquito-borne infectious diseases, using separation and screening technology and culture production technology for microorganisms that have beneficial functions from the natural environment.

[Moth Killer]

Unpleasant insects such as midge and sandfly grow in wastewaters with high organic contents found in septic tank or ditch. They also cause allergic attacks and transform into foreign objects contained in food.
The insecticidal protein bacillus thuringiensis produced possesses strong insecticidal properties against the insects it targets; however, it hardly has any effect on other creatures and the environment.
The insecticide for unpleasant insects in aquatic systems whose main component is this insecticidal protein causes little environmental damage, and you can use it in areas where you want to refrain from using chemical insecticides.

Main component
Crystalline protein produced by D142 strain of bacillus thuringiensis.

Mechanism of its effect
The crystalline protein absorbed by the larva will dissolve under the high alkaline condition of its digestive tract, and then it is broken by the larva's digestive enzyme and is transformed into an activated toxin. This toxin is bound with the receptor in the digestive tract and destroys the tissue, killing the larva.

Features
<Selectivity> It is only effective on the larvae of target insects.
<Dispersion> Bubbling spreads the active component quickly.

Usage instruction
Add one tablet for every 200 L of water. Please use it in places with little flow to prevent the active component from flowing away.
Supporting the livestock industry with the power of microorganisms
[TORNIO]

As the rural and urban areas are increasingly becoming mixed, complaints about the odor from swine housings are increasing. This research is a part of an industry, academia, and government joint R&D project (Fukuoka IST) called “Development of a microorganic material that decomposes lower fatty acids in pig dung to reduce the odor from swine housings (Approved in 2011).” We are striving to solve the environmental problems caused by odors by developing a feedstuff whose main component is a microorganism that reduces the generation of lower fatty acids, which are substances that cause odors in swine houses.

[TORIMAX]

By mixing it in chicken feed, it will accelerate the growth of the chickens. D3372 strain is lactic acid bacteria isolated from chicken droppings. It is resistant to heat and dryness. The active ingredient cacillus coagulans is a widely used sporogenous lactic-acid bacteria.
The increase in the area covered by microvilli in the intestinal canal will improved the nutrient absorption. It will enable production of lactic acid in an environment having little oxygen.
Supporting aquaculture with the power of microorganisms
We are studying how the lactic acid bacteria from the ocean with an immunity-activation effect impacts farmed fish.

[ARIAKE1]
Probiotics for aquaculture. The active ingredient is Bacillus amyloliquefaciens D203 strain, 1x109 CFU/g. It has a wide-ranging antimicrobial effect against fungus and bacteria and is capable of decomposing organic matter.

[PowerLac]
Mixed feed for aquaculture. The active ingredient is heat-sterilized Lactococcus lactis D1813 strain, 1x108 cells/g. It activates the immune system of prawns and fish and contributes to their health maintenance, as well as improves the feed conversion ratio (FCR).
