Sohatsu Systems Laboratory
We propose a new form of tunnel ventilation.
Our system technology department provides simulation analysis and tunnel ventilation control software, and the hardware technology department handles product sales including inner-tunnel sensors, and inverter boards and ventilation power boards. These departments work together and propose measures for ensuring safety, energy conservation, and environmental protection in the field of ventilation inside road tunnels and subways. Our company has supplied products to over 100 tunnels nationwide. We will continue to place the utmost priority on user safety and peace of mind regarding road tunnels, while always creating products to satisfy user needs. We will also discuss and develop a new technology that facilitates road management through the Internet and cloud, making it simpler and more convenient.
Other presentation
[Company strength] Our company independently conducts development to match technology seeds while capturing market needs. Our own development funding is limited, so we have developed various technologies using subsidies from Hyogo Prefecture and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry almost every year. We also focus on employee training under the guidance of university teachers and former employees of a major electric appliance manufacturer, where our president used to work. [Business description] Our system technology department provides simulation analysis, and production of tunnel ventilation control software. Our hardware technology department handles sales of inner-tunnel sensors, inverter boards and ventilation power boards, and so on. [Industry] Manufacturing [Strength of products/technologies] Our company has already established a technical method regarding tunnel ventilation control systems for creating a simulator for single-tube tunnels, city tunnels, huge tunnels, and irregular tunnels. The necessity for ventilation is decreasing as the number of electric vehicles increases. We have seen some major manufacturers withdraw from this industry. We believe that we can propose a better technology by further re-considering safety and energy conservation. Ventilation control itself is an old technology, but we want to pursue a more comfortable and safe tunnel environment by combining it with Internet and cloud technologies. [Representative's message] Our company has focused on cultivating and researching this niche technology for the past 15 years by limiting our scope to tunnels. We once considered expanding overseas, but we finally gave up because we thought it would be difficult for an SME to commercialize given the social situation at the time. Currently we are fully focused on the domestic Japanese market to solidify our sales volume and to grow as a business. But we have not entirely given up. We hope to expand if given a chance, or when our business has grown fully to justify such a challenge. [Company structure for market development/overseas expansion] Our Director Toshiaki Sakaguchi lives in Boston to help us contact overseas organizations and prepare presentations in academic meetings. We also receive support from technology adviser Dr. Alan E. Vardy at Dundee University in Scotland. We publish papers at tunnel ventilation conferences every year to introduce new technologies. [Market share/Ranking] We have a 100% market share. [Awards and media coverage] [Awards] Monozukuri Craftsmanship New Selection in Kansai 2015; Hyogo Prefecture Invention Award 2015; Hyogo No. 1 Manufacturers Award.
