This project provides pre-natal genetic testing services for the world's most common autosomal recessive congenital disease- "Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA)". The disease is mainly caused by a mutation in the "surival motor neuron gene" that affects the spinal  cord development. The mutation causes a gradual alrophying of musccles so the sufferer becomes unable to walk, crawl, swallow, breath or even move their head and neck muscles. There is known treatment for this disease but this will hopefully prevent this disease from being passed on to future generations.
