[Company strength]
We have been striving to develop our house brand products that are developed ourselves with the goal of being a “Nationwide brand from Naruto”, since 2015. Our house brand products include: “animal pharmaceutical Silky Dip®”, which has been jointly developed with NASU AGRI SERVICE, Inc.; and AQRUM, which is used when semiconductors are produced. We have also started up the Epsom bath salt brand “NEHAN TOKYO” as our first B to C business, and sent the brand nationwide from our flagship shop in Aoyama in Tokyo. Moreover, we have started the business of concrete reforming deterioration inhibitors Reactlize® and Calsuppli® that we have developed to contribute to the prolongation measures of public concrete structures such as aging bridge piers, which have caused problems in recent years, in 2017.


[Business description]
We UMAI CHEMICAL CO., Ltd., were established in the 4th Keichou era (1599). We started in the salt manufacturing industry when Shichirobe Umai, who was a salt manufacturing technician in Harima Hamai beach and was invited by the Awa domanial lord Hachisuka Iemasa, opened a salt farm in Naruto city, Tokushima prefecture. We are an inorganic chemical manufacturer, including refined magnesium sulfate (Epsom salts) with the largest share of production and sales in Japan, and are also a specialized chemical trading company that deals with more than 100 types of chemicals.

We are working on new product development while maintaining the pride of being the oldest enterprise in Tokushima. We are a creative and future-oriented corporation that continuously creates “sincere and unique” products and services, which lead to our major goal of UMAI becoming a brand that is accepted in the Asian region.


[Company structure for market development/overseas expansion]
We are a chemical manufacturing manufacturer, and are simultaneously a specialized chemical trading company that deals with more than 100 types of chemicals. We have transaction records with wide-ranging customers. We have sales sites in Tokyo, Osaka, and our home-field Tokushima. We endeavor to perform market development at each sales site with basic concepts described below as the sales activities including “sales of our products” and “sales of industrial chemicals and industrial materials as a trading company”. The basic concepts are as follows: (1) Producing a business that supports UMAI as a manufacturer in the future by feeding needs on the market and client information back to the plant and conducting new product development and product planning; (2) Acquiring recognition of UMAI Chemical as a trading company in the public (the industry).
