Sakima Prosthetics & Orthotics Co., Ltd.

We contribute to medical welfare and local society through our prosthetic appliances.

We are an artificial limb manufacturer engaged in the development, manufacture and sales of prosthetic appliances. Our strength lies in developing products to help patients return to society and improve their QOL while working with industry and academia, including medical institutes and universities. Our products cover a wide range of conditions and needs including knee osteoarthritis, arthrorheumatism, genu recurvatum, athletic injuries, and polio. In February 1999, we acquired a patent for our “CB Brace” joint orthosis that adopts a CB (center bridge) structure. The CB Brace has a very light frame (only 79 g) and features such benefits as lasting pain relief, excellent ease of use, and high durability and supports the user’s walking ability.

Our products cover a wide range of conditions and needs including knee osteoarthritis, arthrorheumatism, genu recurvatum, athletic injuries (ligamentous, medial meniscus, and elbow injuries), and polio.

[Business description]
Our business involves the development, manufacture, sales and after-sales service of prosthetics and orthotics, and related activities conducted through organic coordination with medical and rehabilitation facilities, private companies, universities, and research institutes. Making full use of our advanced equipment and technologies, we look for optimal solutions from the patients’ viewpoint, provide team-based medicine for patients who have suffered the loss of a limb or motor dysfunction due to an accident or illness, help them return to society as soon as possible, support the realization of QOL improvement, and contribute to the betterment of medicine, welfare, health, tourism, and sports fields.

[Representative's message]
We are pleased that our CB Brace solves some of the problems facing the super-aging society and can help extend the healthy life of the elderly. We also want to assist and improve the quality of life for people suffering from disorders or functional degradation. To realize this, we are reaching out to companies who share our goals and would like to work with us to achieve them.

[Company structure for market development/overseas expansion]
We work together with people in industrial fields, academia and administration in various aspects (including hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, polio or partial paralysis associations and other disease associations, welfare organizations, athletic reinforcement or health improvement facilities and organizations, and sports lovers) and improve the efficiency of our sales channel expansion by promoting the CB Brace’s advantages in wearing comfort, such as proposing its introduction as a support tool for rehabilitation and sports projects, creating opportunities for trial wearing through exhibitions, verifying the effect of wearing comfort by accumulating evidence, and effective use of the web. To establish sales networks for foreign markets, we promote organic coordination with Japanese companies showing good sales results in foreign countries. We also continue to promote the after-sales system.
