Ryux Co., Ltd.

Our company efficiently recycles coal ash from power plants into concrete.

Our company manufactures and sells Carbon-free Fly Ash (thermally reformed fly ash). Fly ash generated at coal-fired power plants produces advantages when it is used in concrete admixtures, including improvements in strength, salt resistance, and appearance. However, unburnt carbon contained as an impurity makes the properties of ready-mixed concrete unstable. We reduced unburnt carbon to 1% or less by thermal reforming to make the rest of the fly ash available for admixtures. We are readying a fly ash concrete supply system in our prefecture in collaboration with the Okinawa Federation of Ready-Mixed Concrete Industry Cooperative Associations.

[Company strength]
Major manufacturers, general contractors, and universities are conducting research to remove unburnt carbon from fly ash. Several technologies have been developed and implemented. Our thermal reforming technology allows the remaining fly ash to be used in admixtures after unburnt carbon is removed by combustion. This features extremely high production efficiency. We manufacture CfFA by making the fly ash quality stable. CfFA concrete satisfies the JIS standard for ready-mixed concrete without special chemical admixtures. CfFA concrete can also be used for building structures. We are superior to other companies in terms of general versatility.

[Business description]
Fly ash (coal ash) is generated as byproduct at coal-fired power plants. Using this material in concrete admixtures produces various advantages including improving the durability and service life of concrete structures. Concrete mixtures containing fly ash promote long-term strength and salt resistance and also improve appearance. However, fly ash contains an impurity called unburnt carbon, which makes the properties of ready-mixed concrete unstable. This is why concrete admixtures containing fly ash have not become prevalent. Our company removes unburnt carbon to 1% or less by thermal reforming to improve purity. We manufacture and sell this thermally reformed fly ash as Carbon-free Fly Ash (CfFA).

[Representative's message]
Our CfFA improves the durability and service life of social infrastructure including roads, bridges, and dams as well as private houses and any other kinds of concrete structures. We are confident that our thermally reformed fly ash will make a great contribution to qualitative improvements of people's everyday lives. Our technology also helps to reduce environmental loads by making effective use of the industrial waste known as coal ash. We think CfFA will be necessary for future social and corporate activities as a business based on our motto of Creating Shared Value (CSV). This motto refers to creating new value with activities to contribute to society.

[Company structure for market development/overseas expansion]
We plan to export high-value-added concrete products with a secondary concrete manufacturer in Okinawa Prefecture. We will expand CfFA sales in the prefecture while establishing a fly ash concrete supply system in collaboration with the Okinawa Federation of Ready-Mixed Concrete Industry Cooperative Associations. An overseas market survey is in progress through a JICA project for business expansion outside Okinawa Prefecture and Japan. We are planning to extend the use of fly ash to Southeast Asia and North America with the cooperation of Mitsubishi Corporation RtM Japan Ltd.
