Maeda Alloy Casting Co., Ltd.

Casting of copper alloys and aluminum alloys

We manufacture castings of copper alloys and aluminum alloys, particularly construction machines, valves, machine tools, agricultural machines, and diaphragm pumps. We have been carrying out “Monozukuri (manufacturing)” even using materials that are generally considered difficult to handle, such as brass, high-strength brass, aluminum bronze, and AC7A, since our foundation in 1971. We make effective use of our accumulated techniques of sand mold casting and machine working to expand our business. Our staff vary widely in age from the young to veterans, thus passing on techniques from one to the other. We are based in Oshu City, which has long flourished as a foundry for Nanbu ironware, in Iwate Prefecture.

Other presentation

[Company strength]
Oshu City, Iwate Prefecture has flourished since ancient times as a foundry centering on cast Nanbu ironware. The city has many companies which are essential for the foundry business, including casting suppliers, processors, mold manufacturers and associated material sellers. We are located near the Tohoku Expressway and Route 4 (Oshu-kaido Road), which is convenient for physical distribution and enables products to be delivered to the Tokai, Kanto and Koshin’etsu regions by the next day. Our employees are of wide-ranging ages from young to veterans, and we focus on education and training to pass on techniques to the next generation in addition to practical operations. By using our technical capabilities, we can handle processing of difficult materials which other companies avoid.

[Business description]
We manufacture construction machines, valves, machine tools, agricultural machines, diaphragm pumps, and many other components, by sand mold casting of copper alloys and aluminum alloys and then machine working. We always stock the following materials. Copper alloys: bronze (CAC403, CAC406), phosphor bronze (CAC502A), brass (CAC203), high-strength brass (CAC301, CAC302), and aluminum bronze (CAC702); aluminum alloys: AC2B, AC4A, AC4C, and AC7A. We can manufacture products using other materials by obtaining the raw materials, depending on the ordered volume.

Casting of copper alloys and aluminum alloys, and machine work

[Strength of products/technologies]
We actively accept orders for brass, high-strength brass, aluminum bronze and AC7A, which other companies in the industry tend to avoid. These materials should not be melted in a bronze-based melting furnace, and a plurality of melting furnaces are necessary. Melting and casting is difficult for companies operating within cities because smoke is generated during the evaporation of zinc in the case of brass-based materials. With aluminum bronze and AC7A, casting is difficult due to the material characteristics and advanced techniques are required, but we have solved such difficulties and can process such materials at any time. We can also provide castings in niche sizes such as large ones using a green sand mold and small ones as a self-hardening mold, by a semi-automatic molding machine with a large frame size (600 x 450), etc.

[Representative's message]
We are a Monozukuri (manufacturing) company which ensures stable procurement for customers. Our motto is to provide a stable supply of high-quality components, create a virtuous circle of people, and contribute to the local community. We also make great effort to develop markets. We visit the Kanto region ten times a year, and aim to respond quickly so that customers do not notice the distance of our production based in Iwate Prefecture. J-GoodTech is an effective marketing tool which we will use to grow, including overseas in the future.

[Company structure for market development/overseas expansion]
Senior Managing Director Ryoichi Maeda is in charge of sales and handles inquiries from major companies. We do not plan to expand overseas now, but actively win orders by participating in negotiations sponsored by industrial promotion centers in prefectures in Japan, and visiting customers, to grow in the domestic market. We will continue to train employees and accumulate advanced new techniques while passing on existing ones. We will strive to grow and will consider overseas development.
