We developed plaster wall-finishing material by making use of processed marine product waste (oyster shell waste) with the support of an industry-university-government cooperation project. We initiated sales in our home base of Iwate Prefecture in April 2015. Our goal is future nationwide expansion. We are considering overseas expansion to China. Our product maintains human health and returns to nature after disposal, so it has attracted attention in many fields. [Company strength]
Construction consulting is our main line of business, and it is located in the uppermost stream of social infrastructure development. It supports an enterprise’s business mainly in terms of surveys, planning, design, and so on, and plays an important role as a partner. Construction consulting is a business category that is indispensable to national, regional, and municipal infrastructure projects. We respond to staple demands such as inspection and repair of aging social capital, reconstruction planning and design, repair design, and public facility operation and utilization planning. We also aim to support reconstruction efforts following the Great East Japan Earthquake. Our goal is to promote cyclic utilization of processed marine product waste by fishery households, and to improve health by providing comfortable dwelling spaces in the future. We are an enterprise with roots in the local community, and we support social capital improvement, so there are high expectations of the role our company will play. We can contribute to making comfortable residential environments by making use of our technology for building up local scenery and town planning methods as a construction consultant.

[Business description]
We are engaged in construction consulting, surveying work, geological surveys, compensation consulting, and so on, with a focus on construction consulting. We initiated new product development in FY2004 of a wall-plaster material in which a light catalyst is applied to oyster shell waste. Our goal is to contribute to promoting the local community, targeting development of products that add value to processed marine product waste. This project has enjoyed the support of a consortium involving industry-university-government cooperation. We started sales as a new business in April 2015. We have arranged systems for commercialization and mass production and received the cooperation of building material traders in the area. We are now actively working on sales promotion and expanding new markets. We are also supporting further needs for wall-finishing materials and interior work by making use of our expertise as a construction consultant.

[Strength of products/technologies]
(1) The Environment: We make products that protect human health by making use of processed marine product waste (oyster shells). We contribute to environmental improvement in all parts of the product life cycle.
(2) Performance: Our products have deodorization, antibacterial, moisture conditioning, and decomposing functions. These functions result in the removal of agents that cause sick house syndrome and odors. This is due to their self-cleaning effects, which continue semi-permanently.
(3) Production technology: We possess technology for sintering oyster shells at super-high temperatures near 1,000 °C. Our company’s research indicates that we can achieve unparalleled continuous mass production.
Business model: We possess a technology that can create high-value-added residential environment products from processed marine product waste, which is both an environmental and economic load.
Product development power: We invited the developer, Dr. Kawada, to our company as an advisor. We have a business and development system that can also support improvements based on needs for our wall-finishing material.

[Representative's message]
Our technology produces products with high added value from processed marine product oyster shell waste. It contributes to environmental improvement in all stages of the product life cycle, from the birth of the product to its disposal. Our products are effective and useful, and our production technology and business model themselves make a great contribution to society. We are confident that they can respond to the needs of international society in the future. The supply of quick and cheap wallpaper constitutes a big barrier in today’s Japan, and it is hard for a single enterprise to overcome. We are convinced that our product and business model are truly required for the future of international society. We want to contribute to people who are suffering from sick house syndrome, and to continue working hard for further market cultivation and overseas expansion.

[Company structure for market development/overseas expansion]
We established a marine biomass business unit with the goal of commercializing our new product. This unit consists of four dedicated staff members, including two employees and an executive in charge (our CEO) who are responsible for market development. Our CEO also has a longtime friend (in the construction business) in China. We introduced our product under development, and concluded a cooperation agreement in the event of future overseas expansion to China.

[Market share/Ranking]
Our sales are currently concentrated in Iwate Prefecture. Our goal is future nationwide expansion.
