FE Co, Ltd.

We offer vegetable washers and sorters to satisfy farmers’ needs and reduce their workload.

We developed a Japanese radish washer based on the needs of farmers in Japanese radish production areas after improving it many times. Our product has not been imitated for over a decade. We have also helped reduce the burden of farm work, and added high value to produce by developing washers, sorters, and peelers for Chinese yam, carrot, and other root vegetables. We focus on training young employees who can support maintenance and software development, because these areas can be critical when attracting manufacturers to help develop the local economy. Our washer for Japanese radish with the leaves attached was launched more than ten years ago. The fact that there are no copycat products on the market after all this time proves that it is a unique technology in itself.

[Company strength]
We have always listened to our customer and users, and made numerous improvements to create an easy-to-use, hard-to-break product. The extensive technologies and know-how we have gained from our experience are our major strengths. Our unique efforts have been highly valued by many people, which has resulted in many awards. These include selection for 300 of Japan's Vibrant Monodzukuri (Manufacturing) SMEs (2009), and an Excellence Award at the 4th Monodzukuri Nippon Grand Award (2012). We also focus on training young employees in the software development and maintenance fields to help develop the local economy. This is because workers like these are critical when attracting manufacturers to our region.

[Business description]
Our core business is root vegetable washer and sorter design and manufacturing. Washing tender vegetables like Japanese radish used to be a considerable burden for farmers. We listened to these farmers and continuously improved our machine, and finally developed a washer that does not damage Japanese radishes even when they still have their leaves. Our industry-first washer for Japanese radishes has become very popular, and we have delivered it to Japanese radish production areas throughout Japan. We have also developed washers, sorters, and peelers for other root vegetables such as Chinese yam, carrot, burdock, potato, and onion. These products reduce the burden of farm work and add high value to produce.

[Industry]
Vegetable washer design, manufacturing, and installation

[Strength of products/technologies]
There have been no products copying our washer for Japanese radish with attached leaves for over a decade. Our company launched a high-speed washer for Japanese radish with attached leaves in 2003. It incorporated many original ideas and ingenuity regarding its rotating brush, such as the thickness, length, orientation, and shape. These result in high-speed washing without damaging the surface of the radish by forming a thin water later at the tip of the brush. We have seen no copycat products on the market for over a decade since launching our washer, and we assume this is proof that our technology is quite unique. We applied know-how we gained from our Japanese radish washer to develop other root vegetable washers, and some of our washers can handle vegetables like ginger with more irregular shapes.

[Representative's message]
Our company offers total solutions for vegetable washers and sorters, with a focus on root vegetables. We cover from design to manufacturing, installation, and trial runs. Our philosophy is to be responsible for the user’s product, and we have always listened to our customers and committed ourselves to humbly making improvements. This attitude will never change. We will not cease to apply our washing and sorting technologies to develop new products. Our company name comes from the element symbol for iron, which we intend to stand the for solidarity of our employees, and trust from our customers.

[Company structure for market development/overseas expansion]
Representatives in the sales department are responsible for cultivating new markets, and they respond to inquiries from new customers by applying the technological knowledge we have acquired. The development teams we form for each improvement or new development project are composed of a mix of staff members from both the sales and technology departments. This is done so we can understand the customer’s needs to the smallest detail. We participate in overseas exhibitions to demonstrate our products, and recruit fluent speakers of foreign languages. We receive support from public organizations such as JETRO to cultivate sales channels in Southeast Asian countries like Vietnam and Myanmar where vegetable washers have huge potential.
