Media Magic Co., Ltd.
We have developed a bus location guide system that can withstand use in cold areas.
Our business areas are content distribution and system development. We mainly plan, produce, and operate mobile websites and develop applications for feature phones and smartphones like iPhone and Android. We have overseas expansion in mind. Our unique bus location system provides a service that is definitively different from costly conventional services using dedicated equipment. Commercially available smartphones and tablet terminals are used to provide a low-cost bus location guide system. Demonstrations in cold areas have proven that our system is capable of withstanding use in Hokkaido and other cold areas, and this system is attracting attention.
- Our Buskita! bus location service supports increasing the number of users.
Our product uses commercially available smartphones or tablet terminals and can be provided as an inexpensive vehicle operation guide system, unlike conventional expensive services using dedicated equipment. We conducted a demonstration experiment in a cold area and proved that the system could withstand operation in a cold region like Hokkaido.
[Company strength] We have been planning, producing, and operating mobile websites for many years, since the initiation of the i-mode service by NTT docomo. We have hundreds of thousands of users supporting our services. We are now developing many smartphone applications. We have an integrated production system covering all processes from planning to operation. The improvement in the popularity and functionality of smartphones and tablet terminals has made it possible for us to do business in various fields. Now we also focus on new fields, such as tourist services and bus location systems for bus routes. [Business description] Our business areas are content distribution and system development. We mainly create applications for feature phones and smartphones like iPhone and Android (which we call “smartphone applications” here), construct and operate websites, and develop tools to support them. We are also engaged in businesses involving community management, events, and product development. We provide various services that meet customer requests from planning and production to operation and maintenance. This is done based on our past achievements and the techniques we have cultivated through our businesses. [Industry] Information services [Strength of products/technologies] Our bus location system is one of our main products. Conventional bus location systems provide costly services by using dedicated equipment. Our bus location system can provide services at a low cost. This is because it makes use of commercially available smartphones and tablet terminals and communications lines, which are becoming cheaper these days. Demonstrations in cold areas have proven that our system is capable of withstanding use even in Hokkaido and other cold areas. [Representative's message] We concluded a business tie-up for the production of anime content with a Spanish company in 2007 and are releasing smartphone applications in overseas languages for active overseas expansion. We also recently developed smartphone applications with a Vietnamese company. We investigate local conditions in Thailand, Vietnam, China, or other countries several times a year to survey companies capable of developing markets with us. Our bus location system is now our main product, and we think there will be a demand for it overseas as well as in Japan. We are actively promoting businesses overseas to grow our business. [Company structure for market development/overseas expansion] We have staff at the Tokyo office and also the head office in Sapporo to attend to new customers. They generally handle inquiries from major companies. Our staff in the planning and production department (the director and four managers) are in charge of consultation about planning. Our staff in the technical development department (three managers) are in charge of technical consultations. They directly visit customers to meet requests. We have two English-speaking staff members to support overseas companies. [Market share/Ranking] Implementation planned in two major cities in Hokkaido (demonstration in progress in Sapporo and scheduled in Asahikawa). [Awards and media coverage] [Awards] FY2009 Hokkaido IT Management Contribution Award, METI Hokkaido (2010); Northern Entrepreneur Award, Encouragement Prize, Sapporo Chamber of Commerce and Industry (2005).
