Okamura Koki Inc.
We provide precision parts to major domestic Japanese and overseas companies in the fields of light electric appliances and automobiles.
We are a precision part manufacturer established in 1948. We make use of our accumulated machining knowledge and experience to manufacture and sell special metal and resin parts for industries including light electrical appliances, precision equipment, and automobiles. We have many transactions with major companies in Japan and abroad, such as Toyota Motor, Nissan, NEC, and Intel. We are proactive about introducing equipment to improve product precision. We have already implemented five-axis machining centers and five-axis composite lathes to improve our precision in machining complicated shapes by the same machining process. We also introduced a lathe for micro-machining with a spindle rotation speed of 40,000 per minute. This is how we established a system capable of satisfying needs for machining precision of 0.05 to below 0.1 in diameter.

Machining
We initiated the blacksmith business in our current location several hundred years ago and supplied guns to the local Yonezawa clan. Later we started operations in the weaving machine industry in the late nineteenth century, and established a company concentrating on the casting business in 1948. At that time we decided to combine and accumulate machining technology. After the Second World War, NEC advanced into our area and started placing orders with us for machined parts for faxes and other items. We gave up the casting business during the “Fiber Shock” (around the same time as the Oil Shock). We now manufacture and sell metal and resin precision parts for the semiconductor, optical, medical, and automotive industries. We are always actively trying to develop new technology by processing new materials actively. We custom-make parts for satellites, survey ships, gas chromatographs, and so on, as well as internal mechanism parts. Our company supports small-lot production for prototypes and mass production. Teams are assigned to processes for integrated production to handle high QCD requests of customers.
Strengths
Our company has four strengths. (1) We can achieve high machining accuracy by actively implementing a five-axis machining center and a five-axis composite lathe and by machining complicated shapes equally. (2) We working on micro machining to satisfy semiconductor-related needs. Our company possesses lathing equipment with a shaft rotation speed of 40K/m. We can support high-accuracy boring with error less than 0.1 in diameter. (3) We can satisfy various processing needs and deliver a prototype on the day of order reception at the earliest. (4) For stable supply, we conduct full education and QC activities at manufacturing and inspection sites and periodically check the skills of workers on each production line.
Representative's message
Our company is doing business with the aim to do work with high added value, irrespective of the delivery day, lot, shape, and easiness. Our philosophy is to machine anything that requires machining. We handle prototyping and mass production of any products, regardless of their shapes or materials, from resin to steel materials, with more than 40 NC machine tools. We are now looking for what we can machine for R&D organizations. Our workers are as young as 30.5 years old on average. We are an active machining company that is highly motivated to take on challenges. We are looking for users in Japan and abroad who will give us opportunities to compete in cost, delivery time, quality, and proposals.
Other presentation
[Company strength] Our company has four main advantages. (1) We have proactively installed five-axis machining centers and five-axis composite lathes, and we are ready to process complicated shapes by the same machining process with high precision. (2) We focus on micro-machining to meet semiconductor-related needs. We possess a lathe with a spindle rotation speed of 40,000 per minute, and we can satisfy needs for machining precision of 0.05 to below 0.1 in diameter. (3) We can satisfy various needs for trial manufacturing because our production system can adapt to changes. We can deliver a prototype on the day of order reception at the shortest. (4) We conduct full training at manufacturing and inspection sites and periodically check the skills of workers on each production line to achieve stable product supply. [Business description] We have been engaged in the blacksmithing business on our present site for several hundred years. We were incorporated as a manufacturer of looms and we now manufacture and sell special metal and resin parts for light electrical appliances, precision equipment, and automobiles. We always focus on developing new technologies by proactively processing new materials. We manufacture customized external parts and internal mechanical parts for optical equipment, load cells, satellites, survey ships, analyzers, semiconductor manufacturing equipment, banking equipment, and medical equipment. We satisfy small-lot production orders by consignment development and prototyping. We efficiently achieve quality (Q), cost (C), and delivery (D) requirements after the launch of mass production by means of integrated production. [Industry] Machined precision part manufacturing and sales [Strength of products/technologies] We apply our technical power to manufacture complicated parts for high-precision electronic equipment. We excel at precision machining of difficult-to-machine metals and synthetic resin materials. (1) We have blades applicable to a wide range of machining conditions, which we employ to machine difficult-to-machine metals and synthetic resin materials with high precision. We now handle precision machining of various materials. The percentage of materials is 30% each for aluminum, stainless steel, and resin and 10% in total for titanium, molybdenum, and casting. (2) We propose parts combined from the technologies of our partner companies to appropriately satisfy customer needs including forging, casting, molding, pressing, sheet metal working, surface treatment, welding, and EDM. (3) We can conduct fine surface treatment by making use of our know-how about micro-machining with blasting machines that use glass or dry ice. [Representative's message] We are committed to business aiming at work with high added value, regardless of the turnaround, lot size, shape, or degree of difficulty. Our company conducts processing from trial manufacturing to mass production. We manufacture products from round items to milled products by machining resin or steel materials. This is done with four kinds of NC machines, of which we possess a total of more than 40 units. Our philosophy is to machine whatever can be machined, and we are now searching R&D institutions for anything that should be machined. We are an active machining company with a young staff having an average age of 30.5, and they are highly motivated to take on challenges. We are looking for customers in Japan and abroad who evaluate manufacturers by turnaround, quality, and proposal as well as by cost. We look forward to your inquiries. [Company structure for market development/overseas expansion] We have a sales system led by the president for domestic Japanese sales. We are developing sales channels for parts for light electrical appliances, precision equipment, and automobiles. We have registered our company with Wazaari Yonezawa, which is an order placement and reception matching site for manufacturing companies in Yonezawa City, Yamagata Prefecture. We are now ready to accept orders from a wide range of fields. We have taken on two trainees from the Philippines since July 2015. This is to prepare local part manufacturing for a factory of a company manufacturing semiconductor equipment from engineering plastics in the Philippines. Preparations are scheduled to conclude in three years when the trainees return to the Philippines, and we have been engaged to train them about manufacturing semiconductor test socket housings. [Market share/Ranking] Our market share is difficult to confirm. [Awards and media coverage] [Awards] [Media] [Authorization/Certification] ISO 14000 (July 2004). [Main Clients / Business History (domestic)] NEC (computer parts using magnetic tape as storage media); Nissan (actuator parts for the Skyline); and Toyota (parts for shock test devices). [Main Clients / Business History (overseas)] Intel, Texas Instruments, AMD (semiconductor inspection sockets), and Daimler-Benz (navigator controls).
