WINDLENS Co., Ltd.
We manufacture and sell environmentally friendly next-generation small wind power generators.
Kyushu University developed a small urban wind power generator called a “wind lens turbine.” They attached a special duct to greatly improve the output compared with conventional wind power generators. Its low noise enables easy installation even in an area or site that is not suitable for wind power generation. The generator can even reduce bird-strike accidents. We participated in the R&D by Kyushu University and Fukuoka City.
Other presentation
[Company strength] Wind power generation has recently been attracting attention as a renewable form of energy like solar power generation. The market for large-turbine power generation has steadily expanded, but its disadvantages in terms of scenery, noise, bird-strike, and so on have been exposed. This has led to a recent trend to reconsider small turbines. The wind lens turbine developed by Kyushu University has achieved excellent technical innovation. We have a production system ready for reducing production costs. [Business description] (1) Manufacturing, sales, installation, and maintenance of wind lens turbines. (2) Sales of peripherals for wind lens turbines. (3) Sales of renewable energy equipment. (4) Wind monitoring. [Industry] Manufacturing [Strength of products/technologies] This next-generation small urban turbine is compact and efficient, and is easy to install anywhere. It is a high-performance turbine that features low noise, a wind-gathering lens, compactness, high efficiency, a design matching the scenery, safety systems, bird-strike reduction, and a visual feeling of safety. The wind-gathering lens doubles or triples power output compared with turbines of the same size. The turbine is almost free of the noise and low frequencies that are common to large wind turbines. [Representative's message] We will acquire a model certificate for the feed-in tariff scheme and actively pursue sales after certification. We are now developing 100-kW and 200-kW types to contribute to realizing the era of renewable energy. [Company structure for market development/overseas expansion] Many major companies and governmental agencies employ our products. We have installed more than 100 units nationwide, from Hokkaido to Kagoshima. We will further extend our domestic network of sales agencies to strengthen our sales and maintenance system in Japan. [Awards and media coverage] [Awards] Best Presentation Award at SME Expo Sougouten JISMEE 2011. [Media] Nikkei Business Online. Nikkei Business “100 Next-Generation Ventures to Save Japan.” Good Job Kyushu. Nikkei Sangyo Shimbun. Nishinippon Shimbun. [Joint research and development] Joint research with Kyushu University and Fukuoka City. [Main Clients / Business History (domestic)] We have installed 5-kW turbines at factories of major manufacturers, companies, and public parks.
