ASADA MESH CO., LTD.

We supply stainless steel mesh woven with countless super-fine 15-micron-diameter fibers for use in smartphones.

We manufacture many kinds of stainless steel wire mesh for screen printing, sieves, and filtering applications. Super-fine meshes are our main products. Our superior weaving technology allows us to weave them with as many as 640 threads per inch (640 mesh). The threads have a diameter of just 15 microns, which is less than one-fifth the diameter of a human hair. Stainless steel wire meshes are integral to the screen printing processes used to manufacture electronic components for smartphones and other devices.

[Company strength]
The Asada family founded our company. They originally owned a drapery that specialized in Kawachi cotton. The family moved into the wire mesh business, which was the key industry in their city of Matsubara, as the textile industry declined. Today our company has compiled a history of more than 70 years as an industrial wire mesh manufacturer for sieve, filter, and screen printing applications. In recent years the industry has contracted due to pressure from low-price imports. Our company has adapted to the changing times by developing a series of the world’s highest resolution stainless steel wire mesh products. We dominate the industry in the screen printing market, particularly in the leading-edge fields of electronic components and solar cells.

[Business description]
We manufacture and sell stainless steel wire meshes for screen printing, sieves, and filters. We have the world’s No. 1 market share in high-resolution screen-printing meshes that are primarily used in the production of electronic devices.

[Industry]
Stainless steel wire mesh manufacturing and sales

[Strength of products/technologies]
Stainless steel wire meshes are integral to the screen printing processes used to manufacture electronic components for smartphones and a multitude of other products. Our most common product is 640 mesh. It consists of 640 woven threads per inch (about 25 threads per millimeter). The super-fine threads have a diameter of just 15 microns, which is less than one-fifth the diameter of a human hair. Our overwhelming superiority in manufacturing technology over other companies is why our super-high-resolution stainless steel wire meshes are used all over the world. They are used in manufacturing processes for electronic components, solar cells, touch panels, and other electronics.

[Representative's message]
We ship products to customers around the world from our main production facilities in Kagoshima and Suzhou, China. Our No. 7 Kagoshima Plant went into full operation in April 2012, which allows us to meet the soaring demand for our products. We have steadily expanded our markets with a unique strategy of providing complete technical support from plate-making to printing. Expert, artisanal techniques are necessary to manufacture our high-resolution meshes. We have made strenuous efforts to preserve and pass down these time-intensive human skills to future generations.

[Company structure for market development/overseas expansion]
We set up a laboratory in 2007 at our Kagoshima facilities to research next-generation meshes. We have a system in place that provides users with complete technical support, from plate-making to printing. This is so our clients can achieve the highest quality screen printing from our high-resolution meshes. People from university laboratories, research institutions, and leading manufacturers in many different countries have visited our laboratory. Our world-class technicians visit client production sites to give first-hand technical advice. We also provide services for improved quality and lower running costs.

[Market share/Ranking]
60% of the Japanese market and 20% of the overseas market for high-resolution screen printing meshes used for screen printing
