[Company strength]
We specialize in small diameter end mills with cutting diameters of 6mm or less. Tools at the smallest end of the scale include an end mill we pioneered with a cutting diameter of only 10μm. We also have taken the lead, ahead of our competitors, in manufacturing CBN and PCD end mills, in addition to those made of ultra hard carbide alloys.

[Business description]
We engage in the manufacture and sale of end mills and other cutting tools, handling everything from development through manufacturing at our location in Yamato-cho. Consolidated subsidiaries at the same site are engaged in the development and mass production of coatings, as well as re-polishing and the manufacture of tool cases. We believe in the value and strength of “Made in Japan" manufacturing, and support that concept through our own manufacturing in the Miyagi region. Our company is listed on the JASDAQ Exchange.

[Industry]
Manufacture of machining tools

[Strength of products/technologies]
We offer a full lineup of CBN and PCD products specialized for the precision machining field, in addition to ultra hard carbide tools. An original tool grinder, along with automation and our commitment to continuous improvement, enables us to produce these high quality products on a stable and consistent basis. We also focus on the development and distribution of cutting technologies and CAM software, introducing our NS-MicroCAM software in 2012.

[Representative's message]
We will continue to expand our offering of precision end mills for hard materials as we move forward, extending our contribution to the field of ultra precision and micro machining. We also intend to harness the strength of our in-house technology to secure new growth through expanding business in peripheral domains and niche markets. We established NS Tool Hong Kong as our base for overseas sales in April 2013, and began operations there in May. We will continue to respond effectively to customer needs in both international and domestic markets, with quick and reliable delivery and a rich lineup of products.

[Company structure for market development/overseas expansion]
Our company has six domestic branches ? in Sendai, Tokyo, Nagano, Nagoya, Osaka and Fukuoka ? and engages in technical proposal type marketing. Our head office overseas sales department acts as the response portal for international customers, while NS Tool Hong Kong is our base for overseas sales and physical distribution. Another consolidated subsidiary, Makino Kogyo Co., Ltd, is a leading manufacturer of tool cases, not only for end mills but for related products as well.

[Market share/Ranking]
Roughly a 35% share in ultra hard small diameter end mills (company estimate)
