Yajima Industry Co., Ltd.

We can introduce CFRP (carbon fiber reinforced plastic) parts to new fields.

We are a part manufacturer established in 1951. Our company manufactures and sells mostly metal press parts and carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) parts to many customers. These include major Japanese companies such as Fuji Heavy Industries, Honda Motor, NHK Spring, Toyota Motor, and Hino Motors. Our company established a press working method and die specifications for CFRP and flame-resistant magnesium press working technology with support from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. We plan to support the need for auto part weight reduction, and gradually expand the relevant markets. We are also considering entering the aircraft, medical, and welfare industries.

[Company strength]
(1) We have established methods and die specifications for press working technology for CFRP and flame-resistant magnesium and successfully developed prototypes with support from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. We possess large 3D measuring instruments and ultrasonic flaw detectors to verify and evaluate products.
(2) We jointly developed a radiation medical diagnosis system with Gunma University Medical School, and then successfully productized it. Its main features are a special CFRP bed with optimal radiography, and an original control unit. Two patent applications are pending for this product.
(3) We have succeeded in using servo press machines to produce high-precision press dies (cold forging) from super-high-tension material over 1.2 GPa in the field of pressed auto parts.

[Business description]
We provide sheet metal working for automobiles, including pressing, welding, and assembly of metal press parts and die design, development, and manufacturing (including large-scale machining) for advanced metal press working. Our automobile supplies business involves aftermarket part development, design, manufacturing, and sales under our SYMS brand (such as aerodynamics and exhaust system parts). We are engaged in R&D including experiments and research on aerodynamic characteristics with a wind tunnel test system and on engine power performance, and test vehicle and WRC car manufacturing. We develop CFRP and lightweight flame-resistant magnesium pressed parts (including experiments and test systems for medical-engineering collaboration).

[Representative's message]
The market for parts made from CFRP and flame-resistant magnesium is quite harsh. I believe it is important to develop products for today’s automobile, medical, and nursing industries where the characteristics of these materials are appreciated. We want to apply our technological advantages to offer distinctive products to the market, but it is also important to construct a production system to pursue high efficiency and productivity. We will consider our options, including the effective use of overseas sites. We plan to actively make use of J-GoodTech to cultivate sales channels, and propose promising products.

[Company structure for market development/overseas expansion]
We plan to acquire new customers in the automobile, aerospace, and medical fields with lightweight parts made from CFRP and flame-resistant magnesium. This will be done by attending various exhibitions, promoting our SYMS brand on our website, and registering with J-GoodTech. We will also publicize our research findings at public events and academic meetings such as the Japan Society for Technology of Plasticity and Japan Radiological Society. We will establish a reputation for our advanced press working technology and productivity regarding lightweight materials to further cultivate sales channels. We have an across-the-board project team on sales expansion that involves our president and management planning office.
