Terada Iron Works Co., Ltd.
We have a track record in supplying large metal products for steel working companies and other customers.
We are a manufacturer of metalwork products founded in 1917. We mainly manufacture and sell large-sized products for steelwork companies, power plants, and factories. We have confidence in processing large-sized cans. We are accumulating expertise and experience in bending and other processing using a 1500-ton press. We are located close to the sea, and we take advantage of this location to transport large-sized structures by sea and expand our business. We now also carry out production of solar water heaters and solar energy collectors from manufacturing to sales. We are developing solar energy equipment products under our house brand. We have established an integrated system that supports from design to development, sales, and implementation. We do business with major clients in Japan such as Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Chiyoda, JFE Mechanical, and Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding.
[Company strength] We are a metalworking company with an extensive track record of deliveries of large-scale equipment to many steelworks, power plants, and factories. We excel at manufacturing large-sized cans. We have advantages in our high technology power in bending using a 1500-ton press, and in taking advantage of our seaside location to transport large structures by sea. We also possess high technology power as a manufacturer of solar heating equipment under our house brand. We can provide integrated support from product design to development, sales, and implementation. [Business description] We were founded in 1917 as an ironworks company that handled products such as steel frame structures and boilers. We then introduced large machine tools and established an integrated system for can manufacturing, sheet metal processing, machining, and installation work. We offer services including can manufacturing and mechanically processed products to major plant manufacturers. We now also carry out production of solar water heaters and solar energy collectors from manufacturing to sales. We supply these products for household use mainly as hot water supplies for baths and so on. We supply them for business use for applications such as warming make-up water for boilers in social welfare facilities for the elderly, hotels, and schools. [Industry] Manufacturing [Strength of products/technologies] (1) In our metalworking operation we are strong in spherical press bending, which is regarded as the most difficult bending technology in large-scale machining. We also excel at can manufacturing, sheet metal processing, and specifically mirror plate processing. (2) Our products related to solar energy such as our water heater and solar energy collector have supreme heat retaining properties. This is because our products have duplex vacuum-glass tubes at the heat collecting portion and adopt a vacuum flask structure, so heat radiation to the exterior is extremely small. Our products are not influenced by the temperature difference with the outside air, so high efficiency can be maintained even in winter. We have also acquired certification from organizations such as the Japan Water Works Association and the Center for Better Living Foundation. [Representative's message] Our goal is to spread the use of solar heat, which a renewable source of energy. We have been actively submitting our products to exhibitions held in Japan in order to encourage their use for domestic and industrial boilers and water heaters as auxiliary heat sources. We have also sought to spread the use of solar heat air conditioning systems to realize zero-energy buildings (ZEB) and zero-energy houses (ZEH). We hope to develop trough-type energy collectors that track sunlight, exploit solutions with small evaporative distillation seawater desalination equipment, and so on. We plan to cultivate overseas markets by adding these activities to our product lineup. [Company structure for market development/overseas expansion] In our metalworking business we are working to cultivate markets by strengthening our current sales system with the support of the engineering unit. We are working to cultivate the market for our solar energy products by submitting them to exhibitions, with a focus on renewable energy and welfare-related equipment. We are also keeping overseas expansion in view with the cooperation of a major trading company. [Market share/Ranking] Metalworking: We conduct machining and can manufacturing for major plant manufacturers such as Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Chiyoda on a made-to-order basis. Solar energy: We have acquired the world standard Solar Keymark certification. We are the only company in Japan to have acquired this certification. [Awards and media coverage] [Awards] Metalworking: Fukuyama Welding Institute Welding Technique Contest, Individual/Group Victory. Solar energy: The 8th Eco-Product Grand Prize, Award of the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry; Fukuyama Environment Award 2013. [Media] Josei Jishin (January 2016); Hiroshima Home Television, J-Station; Enterprise with Passion; Popular Company; and so on. [Authorization/Certification] Metalworking: Acquired ISO 9001 certification (for some products). Solar energy: Japan Water Works Association certification; BL certification. [Joint research and development] Osaka City University: Joint research on a digestion chamber heating system and sludge digestion system. Joint development with a manufacturer: High-pressure solar energy collector for CO2 gas. We also conduct joint research with a university on efficiency enhancement for heat collection by improving the film used for heat collection. [Intellectual property] Heating System and Digestion Chamber Sludge Digestion System. Solar energy: CPC Reflecting Plate and Solar Heat Cookware, and so on. [Main Clients / Business History (domestic)] Metalworking industry: Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Chiyoda and JFE Mechanical, Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding, and so on.Solar energy: We mainly deliver our products to social welfare facilities for the elderly, hotels, and so on, for reducing hot water supply boiler fuel costs. Our products have also been introduced in office buildings as air-conditioning equipment (solar cooling) using solar energy in order to achieve zero-energy buildings (ZEB). [Exhibition History/Information] The 11th World Exhibition on the Renewable Energy, held from June 28 (Wednesday) to July 1 (Friday), 2016. The 43rd International Welfare Equipment Exhibition, H.C.R. 2016, held from October 12 (Wednesday) to October 14 (Friday), 2016.
