Technotree Co., Ltd.

Our company brings paperless operations and visualization to production sites.

Our mainstay products are the XC-Gate system, which brings paperless operations and visualization to production sites, and the production of automotive maintenance manuals and instruction guides for industrial machinery. XC-Gate runs on tablets and allows operators to enter and view forms at worksites. It eliminates the work of entering paper forms on computers and then tabulating them. Input and view screens are designed with the same layout as Excel, and operation is easy. XC-Gate can track production volumes, defects, yields, and other statistics through connectivity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs).

XC-Gate software for the IoT era
Introduction of XC-Gate products
XC-Gate is a system that converts forms created using Microsoft Excel into electronic documents on a Web screen for easy input from a tablet or any other terminal. Data input into electronic forms is under batch management by a server, so you can search for necessary data at once and use it for aggregation or analysis. You can also output necessary data to Excel or CSV.
Features of XC-Gate
○Easy to create and edit forms
XC-Gate enables you to edit forms using Microsoft Excel and following an editing method Excel is good at.

○Reason for XC-Gate to be a Web application
Two options are now available as choices to select when developing systems for tablets: native applications and Web applications.

○Customization
We customize products according to customer requests.

Customer work varies widely between companies. XC-Gate supports operations by matching customer work.
Cases of use in the manufacturing industry
Use example (1): Raw material acceptance check and inventory management
XC-Gate can be used for raw material acceptance checks, inventory management, and best-by date management. Total conversion into data means that you can check even detailed costs for general cost management.

Use example (2): Machine inspection and cleaning
You can use XC-Gate for cleaning and inspecting machines. A tablet or PC terminal is used for data browsing and input, so you can reduce the risks of damage, mixture with foreign matter, and leaving-behind, unlike hard copies.

Use example (3): On-site manuals
XC-Gate is available for on-site manuals because it allows hard copies and Excel images to be used as they are. Update notifications and content can be shared easily, unlike hard copies.

Use example (4): Use for quality management and testing
Quality management checklists and quality test sheets are converted from conventional hard copies into electronic data. Hard-copy materials and Excel images can be created and used as they used to be, so the product is easy to implement without spending much time.

Use example (5): Data collection from production lines and equipment, and PLC interlink
In collaboration with PLC equipment (*option), XC-Gate can collect achievement data from production equipment and check production status and productivity in real time. Achievement data collected from production equipment can be output to CSV files, so you are free to aggregate the data using the familiar Excel application.

Use example (6): Data analysis and utilization
You can easily input, collect, manage, and analyze data using XC-Gate for input and management.

[Company strength]
We do not solve needs that arise at our client enterprises’ worksites by constructing systems with ordinary software technology. Our strength is that we are an ideas organization. We suggest solutions as all-purpose seeds that get closer to the true nature of an issue, such as implementing screen designs in Excel that on-site technicians are familiar with. We can resolve your needs by incorporating XC-Gate, which has already been sold to numerous enterprises. This solution costs around half the price of an ordinary custom program developed from the ground up. We will continue to develop technology capable of addressing diverse, sophisticated client needs.

[Business description]
Since our founding in 1996 our business has been built on the following two main pillars.
(1) Our systems business, which is centered on XC-Gate and visualization solutions for factories and worksites developed with proprietary technology. We release software packages that help enterprises make their worksite operations more efficient and improve their business processes, and we provide optimal solutions tailored to client requests. We also develop Web systems, production management systems, and manufacturing processes on a contract basis, and provide new technology in collaboration with content enterprises and multimedia enterprises. In the future we will address increasingly diverse client needs by focusing on the IoT market with our XC-Gate.PLC solution, which has XC-Gate, our leading product, at its core.
(2) Our content business, which primarily involves writing manuals for automobiles and industrial machinery. We create and offer multilingual translations of manuals, sales promotion materials, and websites for manufacturers as well as optimized plans for products and services in collaboration with engineers and designers. We create manuals as well as technical illustrations and animations for PR purposes at trade shows and other events. We also create visual multimedia manuals that make use of video, voice, and 3D computer graphics, and create corporate promotional videos.

[Industry]
Information services industry; contract software development industry

[Strength of products/technologies]
Our two package products were developed using proprietary technology, and they differentiate us from other firms offering custom from-scratch development.
(1) XC-Gate contains our patented check sheet storage system (Japanese Patent No. 5579086). It enables clients to use tablets to handle various forms created in Excel without needing specialized software technicians. You can make use of XC-Gate to easily build paperless systems and cut worksite costs.
(2) XC-Gate.PLC contains our patented data management server (Japanese Patent No. 5309267). This enables data capture via networks from programmable logic controllers (PLCs) controlling factory machinery, provided that forms are created in Excel as mentioned above. This makes it possible to create worksite visualization systems that assist on-site technicians.
Our software makes use of these two main packages to integrate with warning lights, BI tools, and other worksite infrastructure. This makes it possible to improve worksites through IoT-enabled worksite visualization.

[Representative's message]
I recently gave two presentations on IoT-driven manufacturing, and I was surprised at the size of the response, which reconfirmed for me the extent of market needs in this field. I feel it is imperative for SMEs to get their customer base, including large corporations, to recognize their company in some way. Our goal based on this thinking is to disseminate our brand in the market using J-GoodTech, our website, and other media. We plan to take concrete steps toward expanding overseas through networking and other business opportunities.

[Company structure for market development/overseas expansion]
We have employed a veteran employee with experience in overseas sales promotion at a large information systems vendor as the planning and management general manager. This employee works with a staff of three to develop sales opportunities and overseas expansion. Sales through distributors currently account for only 20% of our total sales. We aim to double this to 40%. We are also working to commercialize new cloud service products that do not need to be physically exported to serve overseas markets. We plan to execute this new cloud service business through project subsidies.

[Market share/Ranking]
We were ranked second in the maintenance and inspection assistance market, with a 21% share, in the 2015 Overview of Enterprise-Oriented Smart Device Businesses by the Fuji Chimera Research Institute. We can capture the No. 1 position in a wider market, because the current top company’s products lack sufficient factory visualization support with PLC connectivity.
