Conducting research on a space transporter composed of a jet and a rocket.

We are developing a new rocket engine using detonation combustion technology. It is simple in structure and high in combustion efficiency. We evolved this technology into the world’s first technology that switches over two combustion modes, jet combustion and rocket combustion. The developed system works like this: The craft takes off from the airport using the jet mode (like an airplane), switches to the rocket mode in the air to accelerate and ascend to a height of 100 km, then descends by gravity, switches back to the jet mode in the air, and lands at the airport. Our system realizes a low-cost, highly convenient reusable spacecraft. It is one of the candidate systems for future space transport.

[Company strength]
We have been engaged in the development of a spacecraft body and engine since our foundation. Our goal is to realize a low-cost, highly convenient reusable rocket using our own technology for a “combustion mode switchover engine.” We also intend to conduct space-use services including space travel. We draw a lot of attention from the media and the public in Japan as a rare space venture and we are covered by many newspapers and TV programs. The president of our company served for two terms (2013 and 2014) as a member of the Sub-Committee for Space Transportation Systems, Committee on National Space Policy, Office of National Space Policy, and participated in discussions on the Space Activities Act and the long-term space policy vision.

[Business description]
We conduct the following business activities related to the development of a next-generation space transport system:
(1) Spacecraft business:
 1) New rocket: R&D of reusable spacecraft; 2) Space-use services, including space travel and its related services (part of these are under preparation)
(2) Commissioned development business: provision of technical consultation and technical development assistance for ordinary corporations (particularly technology-related companies)
(3) Parts sales business: Import agency service and sales of hybrid rocket parts (CTI’s Hyper TEK)

The new rocket engine that we are developing uses detonation combustion technology. It is a very simple structure, has a high combustion efficiency and is one of the candidates for future space transportation systems. We evolved this technology into the world’s first technology that switches over two combustion modes, jet combustion and rocket combustion (our own patent). [Representative's message]
In order for Japan to efficiently and freely conduct space activities in the future, it is essential for us to establish space infrastructures of our own. In Europe and the U.S., venture businesses with a small number of employees have already started developing spacecraft using their own unique ideas and technologies. They have achieved remarkable cost reduction in space transportation and participated in the space business. We believe it is the mission of the private industry to develop and operate not only satellites but also rockets. Using our own spacecraft concept, we aim to develop and operate a space transportation system featuring low cost, high convenience, and high international competitiveness in order to better understand the global environment and promote the use of the space environment.

[Company structure for market development/overseas expansion]
Our representative, Ogawa, is in charge of technical inquiries and contacts. We have engaged in extensive joint R&D with major Japanese companies and have abundant experience in the operational processes including NDA contracts. For overseas operations, we have in-house personnel for communicating with foreigners, and we use a website to advertise our business and technology to foreign companies. We also regularly form alliances and exchange notes with foreign companies.
