Higuchi Manufacturing Co., Ltd.
We manufacture automotive safety related parts by metal deep drawing and stamping.
We manufacture various automotive parts and motorcycle parts under commission from customers using metal deep drawing and stamping technology. We mainly manufacture automotive safety device-related parts such as airbags, seat belts, and shock absorbers. We have an integrated system from the design of dies, to manufacturing, processing, and assembly of parts by in-house equipment. We offer improved strength, thinning, and weight reduction using ultra-high tensile steel plates for pressure vessels such as airbag parts. Cumulatively we have shipped products for more than 0.1 billion automobiles. We are Japan’s number-one producer by volume of absorber cover products for motorcycles. We currently have manufacturing bases in not only Japan but also the US and mainland China.
Other presentation
[Company strength] We have equipment for cation electropainting, washing, cutting, welding, resin molding, and assembly as well as stamping in-house. We excel at integrated manufacturing and can make proposals for cost reduction from when the customer starts parts development. Press dies are mostly made in Japan, so we export the dies produced in Japan and use them to manufacture products at our overseas factories. This enables us to manufacture products anywhere while maintaining consistent quality. [Business description] We manufacture various automotive parts and motorcycle parts under commission from customers using metal deep drawing and stamping technology. Most of our products are important safety related parts that enable automobiles to run, turn, and stop. We also manufacture dies in-house for manufacturing those parts. [Industry] Metal parts stamping and processing [Strength of products/technologies] Pressure vessels such as airbag parts are designed to be thicker for higher strength, but this increases the weight. We have developed deep drawn/molded stamped parts using ultra-high tensile steel plates and established a stable production system to address the problem of weight increase. We have been focusing on cold working for ultra-high tensile steel plates whereas many other companies use hot stamping, and currently have achieved the mass-production of up to 980 MPa grade ultra-high tensile steel plates by stamping. We have developed not only dies but also manufacturing technology such as workpiece transportation in-house, thus reducing the lead time to the start of mass-production. [Representative's message] “Made In Japan” signifies the Monozukuri or craftsmanship brand which is highly regarded across the globe. With recent technology developments, markets are expanding globally. Our manufacturing fields and products are globalizing too. We have enhanced our manufacturing base and currently have factories located in Japan, the US, and mainland China. As a dedicated metal stamping manufacturer, we are committed to developing the technology and skills that customers trust worldwide, and to serve as a company needed by society. [Company structure for market development/overseas expansion] The structure of our sales division was reorganized in 2013 and we now have a system for winning new customers by participating in exhibitions and responding to inquiries online (company website and our Facebook page). We have set up a Sales Engineering Group in our sales division so that experts in die and mold technology can answer inquiries, etc. Sales personnel are responsible for meetings with new customers in every overseas base. We are now able to manufacture dies in Japan and mainland China. [Market share/Ranking] We manufacture about 20 million airbag related parts per year. [Awards and media coverage] [Awards] [Media] The Mid-Japan Economist (September 2015); Response (automotive news website) (June 2014, regarding loan from Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC)); Nikkei Monozukuri (monthly magazine) (February 2014 issue); and Seisanzai Marketing Magazine (monthly magazine) (February 2014 issue) [Authorization/Certification] ISO 9001/14001 [Main Clients / Business History (domestic)] We have delivered products to Takata Corporation (consignment manufacturing of airbag parts and seat belt parts), KYB Corporation (consignment manufacturing of shock absorber related parts), NGK Spark Plug Co., Ltd.
