We are venture company that originated from AIST, and our nanoparticles change the color of light.

Our company was established as a venture company that originated from AIST with offerings of  technology transferred from AIST. Our strong point is nanoparticle development through the use of chemical reaction control technology. We can use various materials, from metals to inorganic and organic matter, oxides, and compound semiconductors. We are currently promoting nanophosphor (nanoparticles) for 4K and 8K liquid crystal displays. Different particle diameters produce different colors, such as red and yellow, so nanophosphor can widen the color gamut of liquid crystal displays. It can also be applied to vividly colored LED lamps. A nanophosphor mass-production plant will start to operate this spring to increase sales.

[Company strength]
The strength of our company lies in developing various nanoparticles in a short period of time through our original micro-space chemical technology. We have just developed and commercialized a dedicated nanophosphor for the international standards for next-generation high-presence broadcasting systems (such as SHV and UHD), and finally arranged for mass production. These achievements would not have been possible without various kinds of support from everyone. This includes the national government (METI), municipal government (Fukuoka Prefecture), financial institutions (banks, venture capital funds), and our shareholders and customers. We believe that the support we have received from everyone is our greatest asset. 

[Business description]
Our company was established in 2006 as a venture company with a technology transferred from the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST). Our core competence is micro-space chemical technology realized by AIST. We are working to create a new field of industry by combining nanotechnology and biotechnology. Our business presently centers around nanoparticle development mainly in the environment field. Our main business is developing, manufacturing, and selling nanophosphor for use in LED lamps and liquid crystal displays.

[Strength of products/technologies]
The SHV and UHD standards require (1) high resolution (pixel number), (2) a high number of frames per second, and (3) an excellent color gamut (faithful color reproduction). Our nanophosphor is regarded as the most likely solution in terms of requirement (3), which has many technical obstacles to overcome. Our nanophosphor is designed to have suitable properties for various applications, and production has also been realized with thermoplastic resin through injection molding. These nanophosphor products can further widen the color gamut by customizing fluorescent colors according to the customer’s request, while lowering power consumption in the widened color gamut.

Our company was established with the aim of commercializing research findings from AIST. Around the time of our establishment we were mostly engaged in various kinds of consignment technology development. We shifted our focus to the development and commercialization of our color-changing nanophosphor nanoparticles, and gradually realized higher goals such as commercialization and mass production. Our mass production plant was due to start operations in spring 2016, with the goal of stabilizing supply and satisfying more customer needs.

We are a venture company, so we do not have an official sales force. Customer inquiries are currently coming in through our website and on other occasions (presentations at events). We contact these potential domestic Japanese and overseas customers directly or through major Japanese trading companies. We have also hired Taiwanese staff for companies in Taiwan.

Only a few companies in the world can mass produce nanophosphor, and we are the only such manufacturer in Japan.

[Joint research and development]
Our company developed nanophosphor and its synthesis process jointly with AIST from 2010 to 2011. This joint development provided the foundation of our current mass production of nanophosphor. Joint R&D projects of this kind are still ongoing, and we are given technical guidance through these projects.
