Tokusai Co., Ltd.

Manufacturing of ultra-fine wires having diameters of few micrometers by skilled workers

Wire drawing manufacturer excelling at drawing fine wires for use as filaments in lighting using Tungsten and molybdenum, which are highly durable but hard to process. Our technology enabling ultra-fine wires to be manufactured with diameters of a few micrometers, which is thinner than human hair, by technicians used to handling these hard-to-process materials. We are reinforcing overseas sales because LED lighting equipment is becoming more prevalent in the country. In addition, we are developing new fields such as medical catheters and suspension for electronic parts.

[Business description]
Our company (formerly Tokushu Saisen Kenkyusho) was established in 1950. Our main business is drawing of fine wires and ultra-fine wires (few micrometers) made of tungsten and molybdenum which are high-strength and high-melting-point materials and mainly used as filaments in lighting. In addition, we handle surface treatment and the like of rods, cut pins, ultra-thin ribbons, fine wires, and any kind of fine wires such as stainless and nickel alloy, thereby promoting applications in industrial fields such as electronic parts, semiconductors and medical equipment.

[Strength of products/technologies]
It is difficult to “mechanize” technology for manufacturing fine wires and ultra-fine wires, especially for fine wires on the micro-meter scale, which are hard to see with unaided eyes. However, we manufacture fine wires and ultra-fine wires with unaided eyes and the hands of skilled workers who have inherited the technical know-how of many years. In addition, we work to prevent our technology from leaking out by manufacturing all products in-house.

[Representative's message]
Our company grew from light bulbs, but due to the recent rapid expansion of LED lighting our domestic market has shrunk. However, the shift to LED lighting is slowing in the world market, so we can survive in this lighting market. However, we are trying to develop new markets. We are promoting expansion to semiconductor, electronic parts and medical equipment markets.

[Company structure for market development/overseas expansion]
Our company strengthened marketing, aiming for sales channel expansion, and started construction of new sales networks. In addition, we revamped our website and enhanced sales promotion documents, in order to appeal more to our technology and products, and consider actively participating in exhibitions from now on.

[Market share/Ranking]
Despite insufficient market data, we consider our company to be the top enterprise in fine wires of hard-to-process special metals.
