Kansai Catalyst Co., Ltd.

Our company has a track record of sales of electrode materials and metal compounds to major companies in Japan and abroad.

We are a chemicals manufacturer established in 1957. Our company mainly manufactures and sells electrode materials and metal compounds, including positive electrode materials for rechargeable batteries and electrode materials for MLCCs. We have been doing business with Sanyo Electric, FDK, and Nippon Shokubai for over 20 years and have established relationships of trust with them. We have indirectly supplied products overseas to Samsung SDI, Samsung Electro-Mechanics, and BASF. We have confidence in our technology power, and we have been supplying positive electrode materials for over 50 years since the initial stage of rechargeable batteries. We have been accumulating knowledge and experience regarding material development and manufacturing technologies to satisfy a great variety of needs and increase our business volume.

[Company strength]
We have accumulated material development and manufacturing technologies by supplying positive electrode materials for over 50 years, since the initial stage of rechargeable batteries. We possess development power capable of mass-producing and supplying reagent-level industrial chemicals in small volumes on an industrial scale. This is done to satisfy customer requests for catalysts, batteries, plating, electronic materials, pigments, and edible minerals.

[Business description]
Our company manufactures nickel-based electrode materials (positive electrode materials for rechargeable batteries and electrode materials for MLCCs) and sells them to battery and electronic material manufacturers in Japan and abroad. We manufacture inorganic functional materials (metal compounds) and sell them to domestic Japanese catalyst manufacturers as well as surface treatment agent manufacturers in Japan and abroad. We also provide a broad range of metal compounds (hydroxides, chlorides, nitrides, sulfides, acetates, and carbonates of nickel, cadmium, copper, cobalt, magnesium, aluminum, zinc, and yttrium, and so on).

[Industry]
Chemical industry

[Strength of products/technologies]
We can make use of our unique production technologies to provide metal and inorganic compounds in various shapes, forms, and sizes.
Spheroidizing technology: We can homogenously control nickel hydroxides (for alkali rechargeable batteries) to an arbitrary grain size and degree of crystallinity.
Different-element solid solution technology: We provide oxides of element solid solutions composed of two or more elements, such as nickel, manganese, and cobalt, for batteries, catalysts, and pigments.
Fine particle manufacturing technology (submicron or smaller): We manufacture pigments with excellent color development, ceramic materials for sintering at low temperature, and catalysts with large active surface areas.
Coating technology: We can form functional materials on the surfaces of inexpensive base materials to achieve both high performance and low cost

[Representative's message]
Our company has already established almost all direct channels in the rechargeable battery industry both in Japan and abroad. Our company is not well known in other industries, so we are considering information transmission to those industries. In particular, we are considering the application of our unique technologies to infrastructure fields such as environmental purification and water treatment.

[Company structure for market development/overseas expansion]
We have many years of experience in joint development with major Japanese and overseas companies and have established a sales and development system based on this. We also have an English-speaking liaison to deal with overseas companies.

[Market share/Ranking]
(1) We have a 70% share of the market for commercial nickel–metal hydride batteries.
(2) We are the number-three company in the market for positive electrode materials for nickel–metal hydride batteries.
(3) We have a 40% share of the market for positive electrode materials for lithium ion batteries for electric tools.
