Media Eye Co., Ltd.
We market original systems for visualizing human sensitivities and sensations.
Our company develops software and has three main business segments: consulting, system integration, and system development. We also design and develop web systems and general-purpose systems on contract, conduct operations in the mobile multimedia field, which includes intelligent transportation systems and car navigation systems, and develop systems for many other fields. We set up the Research Institute for Sensory Evaluation in 2013 to pursue initiatives connected to systems that measure human sensitivities and sensations. Our aim is to contribute to new value-added manufacturing by encouraging the application of these systems in manufacturing.
Other presentation
[Company strength] We are a software development company, but we have always aimed at developing our own products in addition to software for other companies. Considering how difficult it is to differentiate software products in an increasingly crowded market, we searched for small-market fields suitable for a company of our size and which other companies are unlikely to enter. Our search brought us to the sensory and sensitivity evaluation field. Although the evaluations are used by many companies, the field has few company representatives or experts and, because of its complexity, its systematization is slow. We set up the Research Institute for Sensory Evaluation, under the auspices of Professor Shigeru Ichihara, emeritus professor of Tokyo Metropolitan University and former chairman of the Japanese Society for Sensory Evaluation, to further our efforts in this field. Last year, we published “Useful Sensory Evaluation Data Analyses for Product Development” (ISBN 978-4-9907809-1-3). Our company may be small, but we are proud of the extent of our sensory evaluation knowledge and networks. [Business description] 1. Consulting business (consulting at each stage, from computer adoption to system development and operation) 2. System integration business (integration of all operations, from hardware and software selection to system construction and operation) 3. System development business (from system design to program development for client-server, web, control, and other systems) 4. Assistance with sensitivity and sensory evaluations 5. Sales of J-SEMS, a sensitivity and sensory evaluation system [Industry] Information [Strength of products/technologies] Our sensitivity and sensory evaluation system is called J-SEMS. We have started selling systems that use TDS and TI chronological measurement methods. We have already delivered two systems to a university. We are currently developing systems that SD and QDS methods, and we plan to develop KATA and TKATA systems next. The features of J-SEMS are as follows: 1. Test conditions can be easily set on the client device. 2. The panel is designed for the user to input changes in sensations over time using the client device, which are saved on the server where various data analyses can be performed. 3. Because multiple client devices can be added, it is possible to acquire data from multiple panels simultaneously. 4. The client device can be used on its own to collect data without being near the unit. 5. When connected to a computer, collected data can be analyzed with any program preferred by the user. 6. J-SEMS is priced much lower than similar products currently being sold. 7. The server and client devices connect via Wi-Fi, so there is no need for the Internet or other external network. [Representative's message] We have entered an age where manufacturing needs to be based on sensory evaluation, but very few companies are capable of this type of manufacturing. We hope to contribute to the application of sensitivity and sensory evaluation methods to manufacturing and to the development of products with more progressive sensory evaluations. [Company structure for market development/overseas expansion] The Research Institute for Sensory Evaluation is the contact point for all inquiries concerning systems or consulting in the sensory evaluation field. Although there are currently very few people who provide consulting in this field, we arrange experts and a framework for each project.
