Macoho Co., Ltd.
We are one of the world's few dedicated wet blasting equipment manufacturers.
Wet blasting uses the force of compressed air to spray a mixture of water and abrasives (slurry) at high speed to clean, process, or reform metal or resin surfaces. Our company is one of the world's few manufacturers that specialize in this technology. Our business has expanded as we respond to customer needs for sub-micron level grinding, polishing, roughening, and cleaning of processed surfaces as post-processing. We have done business with anti-vibration rubber manufacturers, heavy and light electrical appliance manufacturers, and aircraft manufacturers. Our products have been shipped to major manufacturers overseas, such as companies in the US and Asia.
[Company strength] Our company specializes in wet blasting technology only. We take pride in being one of the world's few dedicated west blasting manufacturers. We have focused on R&D as a manufacturer that specializes in wet blast engineering, and we have created new markets by bringing about original products as a result. We possess the ability to develop new applications for customer problems, technology for creating innovative devices, manufacturing practice with excellent QCD, and thorough after-sales service. We will propose value-added devices that far exceed customer expectations. [Business description] Our company plans, designs, manufactures, sells, and provides after-sales service and application development of surface treatment equipment through our key technology of wet blasting. [Industry] Equipment manufacturing [Strength of products/technologies] Our company came to excel at precision processing at the sub-micron level through our accumulated wet blasting technology. This processing includes grinding, polishing roughening, and cleaning. Wet blasting is a technology in which a mixture of water and abrasives is sprayed at high speed with the force of compressed air. The sprayed surfaces can be metallic, plastic, delicate, or ceramic, and they are physically washed, processed, or reformed without affecting the natural environment. Wet blasting is more advantageous compared to dry blasting that uses no water. This is because it does not generate much dust, it can simultaneously degrease and clean, it enables precision processing with finer particles, and it generates less static electricity. [Representative's message] Wet blasting technology still has much room for development, and has the potential to be applied to various fields other than those industries that have been introduced here. We plan to expand this business to new fields such as fields related to medicine and beauty in addition to our existing industrial fields (such as automobiles and electronic parts). We also intend to expand the scope of our business from being a niche top company to a global niche top company as a dedicated wet blasting manufacturer. We hope to expand our wet blasting operation so that it can earn recognition among the overseas subsidiaries of Japanese manufacturers. [Company structure for market development/overseas expansion] We established Macoho America in Columbus, Ohio, in February this year in response to increased shipping of equipment to other countries. This subsidiary is intended to provide maintenance services to local customers (such as subsidiaries of Japanese companies). Several service staff will be stationed there at all times. [Market share/Ranking] We have a share of more than 90% of the domestic Japanese market for the surface treatment of anti-vibration rubber metal fittings (used in automobiles). [Awards and media coverage] [Awards] Our Cocotte product won the Good Design Award (September 2003); 300 of Japan's Vibrant Monozukuri (Manufacturing) SMEs selection (June 2007); 41st Good Company Grand Prix (November 2007); 25th Niigata Prefecture Economic Development Award (April 2008); IT Management Awards for Small and Medium Enterprises (February 2010); Safe and Excellent Workplace Award from Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare (February 2012); Cocotte was chosen as a JIDA Design Museum Selection (January 2013); Excellent Workplace Award/Merit Award on Safety and Health, Niigata Prefectural Labour Bureau Director-General's Award of Excellence for securing safety (July 2014); 27th SME's Excellent New Technology/New Product Competition, Award of Excellence and Special Award for industry-academia-government collaboration (April 2015).
