[Company strength]
We were the first company in Japan to provide cast products using 3D printing techniques. We are proud to be “the No. 1 laminated sand mold casting manufacturer in the Asia-Pacific region”, for facilities, technical capabilities, production ability and output. We have our headquarter factory and another one in Miyagi. We carry out trial manufacture, and research and development at the headquarter factory, and deal with mass-produced articles at the Miyagi factory. We are also promoting overseas development. We set up Koiwai India Private Limited in Bangalore, India in 2012, and established a business office. We obtained approval for our business innovation plan to further business development in June 2012.

[Business description]
We manufacture and sell the following 3D printed products. Trial-manufacture and mass-production casting parts (made of aluminum, cast iron, cast steel, stainless steel, highly heat-resistant alloys etc.), and 3D metal powder laminated products (titanium, cobalt chrome, aluminum, copper etc.). Our products play an active part in various industries such as the automobile industry and the medical care industry.

[Industry]
Manufacture and sale of trial-manufacture and mass-production casting parts, 3D metal powder laminated products

[Strength of products/technologies]
We make a sand mold directly from a design using a 3D laminated sand mold device “in which sand is baked and hardened” in the 3D laminated sand mold construction method. The labor required to make a cast has been halved as a result. There are various other merits including;
(1) Sand molds can be directly cast from three-dimensional CAD data.
(2) Products can have complicated shapes which a wooden model cannot accommodate.
(3) High shaping speed and accuracy.
(4) Various models can be shaped at the same time.
(5) Sand molds can be produced with few man-hours and at low cost.

[Representative's message]
We employed a 3D laminating construction method in the casting industry in 2007. Japan acknowledged the value of this activity, and we accepted the invitation to develop entirely domestically produced 3D lamination devices and materials, which is a national project. We are now involved in the project planning as a representative of user companies. We also accompanied the Economy Minister, Mr. Miyazawa, to India as the only SME among the 25 major companies attending in April this year. We stated our expansion into India in front of concerned Japanese and Indian parties during dialogues between Japan and India. This shows that our business models are highly evaluated and greatly anticipated. We will aim at expansion of our business, utilizing these techniques both in Japan and overseas.

[Company structure for market development/overseas expansion]
We also actively carry out overseas development. We established Koiwai India Private Limited in Bangarole, India and set up a business office in 2012. We plan to set up a local factory in 2016.

[Market share/Ranking]
Casting of laminated sand molds: Our domestic share is about 75%.
