Shibuya Co., Ltd.

Our company excels at metal working, simple die making, and resin molding.

We are a metal working, prototype die, and resin molding manufacturer that excels at making prototype dies, machining, and molding before mass production. Our company provides simple dies for plastics, plastic injection molding, and metal working for automobile interior parts. We supply products for the trial development departments of audio equipment manufacturers and auto parts manufacturers. We create data from sketches, and manufacture simple dies and moldings entirely in-house. We can also accept 3D data. We developed an original 30% glass-combined resin block technology for prototype manufacturing. This technology allows users to make prototypes using the resin block without making dies, which significantly reduces time and cost.

[Company strength]
Our company conducts all processing from sketching to data creation, simple die making of plastic molding dies, and molding. We can also accept and start from 3D data. This allows us to satisfy a wide range of orders from customers. We excel at metal working and making jigs and tools in any volume from single articles, and in any size, depending on the application. We handle palm-sized plastic molding dies within 100 × 100 mm for auto parts (interior parts), light electrical appliance connectors, and so on. We also excel at MC machining, which is a kind of machining with a boring bar blade, used for engine parts of prototype cars.

[Business description]
Our company excels at processing automobile interior parts made of aluminum, stainless steel, and other metals. These products are delivered to audio equipment manufacturers and prototype development departments of auto parts manufacturers. We also handle simple die making and injection molding of plastics. We conduct all the manufacturing processes in-house, so we can offer high-mix low-volume production.

[Strength of products/technologies]
One of our projects was approved under subsidy programs such as the Subsidy for Supporting SME Manufacturers’ Trial Manufacturing in 2012. This helped us to establish our manufacturing technology of 30% glass combined resin blocks for making prototypes. There had been a need for 30% glass combined resin blocks, as this material offers sufficient strength for prototypes. However, a larger glass compound created holes and cracks in the block, making it useless for prototype applications. Establishing this technology has made it possible for us to make prototypes using this resin block without making molding dies. Eliminating this step will lead to significant reductions in both cost and time. We anticipate that there may be a need for this resin block in the field of product development.

[Representative's message]
Our company offers plastic injection molding, die making, and parts processing using mostly general-purpose plastics and engineering plastics. These articles are used before products enter the mass-production phase. We excel at prototype die making, single-item production, and machining and molding of small-lot items. We recently introduced three-dimensional machining centers in our die factory (Shin-yoshida-cho, Yokohama City). We will make use of our equipment and agility as an SME to cooperate with you to satisfy your expectations.

[Company structure for market development/overseas expansion]
All our processing is conducted by the president and a small number of employees under an integrated production system, so we cannot go too far away from our machines. However, we were very interested in learning the needs of developers and planners in domestic Japanese manufacturers that had not done business with us, so we set up a website. Much of the data from this website is subject to non-disclosure agreements, so technical information has not been published, but we do want to hear from more customers.

[Market share/Ranking]
N/A. (We believe there are no other materials that resemble our kind of reinforced glass-combined resin blocks. An Internet search did not reveal any similar products.)
