Chiyoda Kougyou Co., Ltd.
We offer services from design and prototype making to die manufacturing and mass production.
Our company manufactures dedicated progressive dies (for auto parts press lines) and prototype parts, in addition to natural wood molding products (such as speaker cones and luxury Japanese tableware). We have 50 years of history in press die manufacturing, and we do business with various Toyota Motor Group companies. Our accumulated die technology allowed us to overcome buckling and cracking with high-tensile steel plates. This technology in combination with our die design technology and sensitivity in predicting material deformation helped us to cultivate the natural wood and bamboo fields. Development and commercialization of natural wood flow molding die products are currently underway. We have overseas manufacturing sites in the US and Vietnam, and a factory is being built in Thailand.
Other presentation
[Company strength] (1) We offer 1.2 GPa class or higher high-tensile steel plate dies that overcome buckling and cracking. (2) We realized that our die design technology and sensitivity in predicting material deformation could be applied to the natural wood and bamboo fields. We are currently developing and commercializing natural wood flow molding dies. (3) Our management resources are focused on four main areas. (A) Our wealth of die design engineers. (B) Training young engineers at overseas sites, such as in Vietnam. (C) The latest precision manufacturing equipment. (D) Realization of advanced products and technology that meet customer expectations. (4) It is often said that the success of a die depends equally on both manufacturing and trial tuning. We aim to satisfy customers completely. [Business description] Our company has been developing and manufacturing customized products for each customer's needs and making the press dies for over half a century. Our company is now known for its super-high-tensile steel technology, and we do business with many Toyota Motor Group companies. Our high-precision die technology was recently recognized by National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST). This led to our development of wood and bamboo products following their guidance with regard to natural wood fiber flow (flow molding). The resulting speaker cone products have become popular for their significantly enhanced brightness and reproduction of the full range of a performance. We plan to manufacture and launch a line of speakers in a few years. [Industry] Manufacturing [Strength of products/technologies] We follow the product policy below and strive to become a manufacturer that can guarantee the final product performance for customers. This is done by catering to diverse customer needs, and by providing consultation whenever necessary. (1) Clarify product policy. (2) Remain a reliable and responsive basic material manufacturer that makes continuous improvements, and helps differentiate customer products from all other competing products in the market. (3) Continue to improve quality without any interruption to realize zero defects in customer manufacturing lines. Our development project in a new field has been subsidized by multiple public institutions because of our good track record in manufacturing competitive products. [Representative's message] We have introduced the latest equipment and fused it with our advanced technologies in the pursuit of higher quality and lower cost. This is done by using our accumulated die manufacturing technology as a base. These efforts allowed us to offer original dies that can be differentiated from the competition. Our company has also been recognized as an Aichi Brand Company, and obtained third-party certification (ISO 14001 and 9001). In 2004 we established a joint corporation in the US, and a subsidiary in Vietnam in 2006 (as noted elsewhere). We will promote our dies on the world market by catering to needs from our customers' globalization. Our aim is to become the leading company in the field through technological strength and high quality. [Company structure for market development/overseas expansion] (1) October 2004: Jointly established Chiyoda Montrow Die Manufacturing Inc. in Indiana State, USA. This site receives progressive dies we export from Japan (to US Toyota), and offers technical services. (2) January 2006: Established Chiyoda Vietnam Co., Ltd. in Hanoi, Vietnam. This company makes arrangements for die parts manufacturing, and designs die parts for our company. (3) December 2014: Jointly established Siam Chiyoda Co., Ltd. to manufacture dies there. We will enhance the technical services, functions, and die and part manufacturing capabilities of this overseas site by sending more engineers from Japan. We will also increase our capital investment to cater to the needs of Japanese manufacturers' overseas operations. [Market share/Ranking] Our progressive dies and prototype parts are shipped mainly to Toyota Motor Group companies both in Japan and overseas. We also ship to Honda Motor Group companies and Nissan Motor Group companies. We have a wide range of customers in this field. We have recently received inquiries from universities and research institutions regarding natural wood molding. [Awards and media coverage] [Awards] We received the President Akio Toyota Award from Toyota Motor for dissolution of warping through original die and molding technology, and enhanced productivity in press manufacturing. [Media] Our natural wood molding technology has been featured in various industry newspapers and a TV program ("Yume no Tobira," with narration by Mr. Kiichi Nakai). [Authorization/Certification] (1) Japanese Patent Application No. 2011-018372. (2) Japanese Patent Application No. 2013-235161 is pending. [Joint research and development] (1) Vehicle body frame parts themselves, and manufacturing methods for vehicle body frame parts. (2) Manufacturing of diaphragms that are made of wood material. [Main Clients / Business History (domestic)] Toyota Boshoku; Aisin Seiki; Toyota Auto Body; TS Tech; Fuji Kiko; Shiroki. [Main Clients / Business History (overseas)] Our progressive dies are imported by and delivered to customers in the US, Australia, China, Mexico, South Africa, Indonesia, Turkey, and other countries.
