Ueda Kougyou Co., Ltd.

We are a progressive press working manufacturer for mass production, offering top-level performance both in quality and delivery time.

Our company meets various needs in a wide range of industries. This is done by completing all the processes from die design to production in-house. We can deal with high-strength materials, difficult-to-machine materials, and irregular product shapes, which are becoming increasingly complicated. We think outside the box in terms of conventional wisdom in the press working industry. Our high technological strength enables us to maintain top-level productivity in terms of cost and quality as a progressive press working manufacturer for mass production. We also have a subsidiary in Malaysia, which can be used for offshoring. Our company has an R&D department for conducting research on press working for metal materials and new materials. It also studies the production of composite dies through forging, mass production, and conversion to press working.

[Company strength]
We offer an in-house, one-stop solution covering from die design to production, so many customers in a wide variety of industries have chosen to do business with us. This internal system allows us to meet various needs by thinking outside the box, untrammeled by the conventional wisdom of the press working industry. Our external partner manufacturers in charge of machining, quenching, and barrel and surface treatments (e.g., plating and coating) also understand our needs well. They cooperate with us with the goal of achieving the best performance in terms of quality and delivery time.

[Business description]
Our company sells and delivers pressed parts to major manufacturers, mainly in the Kansai region. Our pressed parts are intended for various fields, such as bicycle, automobile, construction, and electric parts. We also take on the challenge of new material press working and conversion to press working in our R&D activities as potential new businesses.

[Industry]
Metal press working manufacturing

[Strength of products/technologies]
The use of high-strength, difficult-to-machine material is becoming common in bicycles and automobiles from the perspective of environmental performance. Product shapes are also becoming more complicated, which increases the burden on the dies that are used. Our company has successfully completed many projects in these circumstances, and we have incorporated the experiences we acquired in progressive die manufacturing process design. We retain global top-level productivity in terms of both quality and cost as a mass-production progressive press working manufacturer. We achieve this by making use of our high technology that materializes irregular 3D shapes.

[Representative's message]
Our overseas expansion started 20 years ago when we set up a joint venture with a major manufacturer, and our overseas sales have been steadily growing. However, the trend toward offshoring is affecting us negatively. We have been feeling a sense of crisis from the fact that our domestic sales have been on the decline. Sometimes we are asked to take over projects from industry peers who are about to cease operations. We set up an R&D department 4 years ago in response to this situation. This was done so that we can cultivate new markets, adopt new materials, and pursue composite die manufacturing through forging to achieve our goal of mass production step by step. Our prototypes were exhibited at Tokyo Big Sight in July this year, in an effort to acquire new customers. We will continue to work hard each day, with a spirit of challenge, following our management philosophy of “working for the company’s development as well as for employee happiness.”

[Company structure for market development/overseas expansion]
We are working hard to become a company that can make proposals to customers, in addition to our QCD (quality, cost, and delivery) performance.
