Fujii Precision Industries, Ltd.
We provide unique services in the compact precision machine field.
Our company provides unique services related to tooling and chucking for certain types of compact precision machines, among other metalworking machinery. Our development of a dedicated chuck system for precision machine lathes led to a significant reduction in resetting operations. Our self-developed Air Balloon Chuck is a component that makes use of elastic film formation caused by air pressure. It has been adopted in a wide range of industries as an important element, and we patented the technology in Japan, the US, Europe, and Taiwan.
[Company strength] Our company can provide services in various technical fields. This is based on our experience of having worked with customers in a wide range of industries and technical fields on a made-to-order basis. We possess design, metalworking, and assembly capabilities necessary for productizing and satisfying customer needs. We are especially proud of our dedicated chuck for precision machining lathes as it has significantly reduced resetting time. [Business description] Our company provides unique services related to tooling and chucking for certain types of compact precision machines, among other metalworking machinery. Our self-developed Air Balloon Chuck is the first chuck in the world to utilize elastic film formation. This air balloon method offers superior advantages to any other chucking systems such as diaphragm chucks, collet chucks, and three-claw chucks. Our thorough product management system results in consistent quality, excellent operability, and high precision. [Industry] Metalworking manufacturing [Strength of products/technologies] Digital information devices require compact, high-precision components. We were faced with the challenge of how to continue to hold a soft workpiece such as aluminum or resin without warping it while the lathe turns at ultra-high speed. This is why we developed our Air Balloon Chuck. This is a world-first chuck method in which air pressure is applied from the inside to expand a metal film, thereby activating claws to hold a workpiece or jig. We have made many important contributions to various other fields such as the processing and inspection processes for optical devices, auto parts, and cell phones. [Representative's message] Our company has unique consultation capabilities that allow us to thoroughly observe and pursue issues when the customer had come to a dead end. We keep working until we come up with a viable idea. We will continue to develop innovative technologies without being bound to conventional thinking. [Company structure for market development/overseas expansion] We are expanding our design division by developing human resources who can work as sales engineers. We need to have more accurate, detailed product information during the product development and manufacturing review period, and users who want to reduce the manufacturing time require more extensive discussions. This is why we are applying new technologies that we gathered from other industries. Our staff are trained so as to facilitate knowledge and skill transfer in the manufacturing process, and to adapt to new manufacturing practices. [Awards and media coverage] [Awards] Science and Technology Agency Director General’s Award (Air Balloon Chuck); Japan Society for the Advancement of Inventions, Distinguished Invention Service Award and New Technology/New Product Encouragement Award, for our Air Balloon Chuck; 300 of Japan's Vibrant Monozukuri (Manufacturing) SMEs selection by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and Small and Medium Enterprise Agency (2006) . [Media] Tool Engineer magazine (June 1999 and August 2002); academic journal published by the Japan Society for Abrasive Technology (May 2009). [Authorization/Certification] Registered trademark: Air Balloon Chuck. Patent registration: Craft Graifer Chuck (2000). [Joint research and development] We have obtained several patent registrations. Air Balloon Chuck is patented in Japan, the US, Europe, and Taiwan.
