Daiwa Kasei Co., Ltd.

We have the top share of the global market for lithium ion battery gaskets.

We are a gasket manufacturer established in 1954. Our products are mainly for lithium-ion batteries. Our company has the top share of the global market for automotive lithium-ion battery gaskets. We have been providing our products to representative major companies in Japan for many years. We are engaged in development, trial manufacturing, and mass production. We plan to make use of the knowledge we have accumulated so far to the launch new business in this term to promote a shift from metal to resin gaskets. We will extend our business capacity by promoting the sale of gasket parts made from PPS, fluorocarbon resin (PFA), and thermosetting resin with high heat resistance and chemical resistance.

Sales Pitch

Cleanliness, precision, and high process capability
We thoroughly renovated our molding plant at the end of May 2018 to achieve a clean environment for molding.
We manufacture molded products in a clean environment (with no foreign matters and contamination, as well as protection from insects) suitable for molded resin products for medical purposes.
We manufacture a wide range of injection molded products made of super engineering plastic such as PEEK, PEI, and PFA as well as general-purpose plastic in our production system for products that need high precision in the order of μm and that have no variations (material handling technology).
We manufacture injection molded products that maintain high process capabilities based on our experience with injection molded products that will be permanently mounted on vehicles.

Other presentation

[Company strength]
Our company coordinates a group of small and medium-sized companies to satisfy high-level customer requirements for specifications and quality in a short time. They are engaged in different businesses but have the same Monozukuri craftsmanship. We make the most of this group's synergy to prepare an integrated system from element development and function and analysis design to trial manufacturing, mass production, and sales. We have the top share of the global market for lithium-ion battery gaskets. We have a long history of providing products, and particularly automotive products, to representative major companies in Japan. We are always taking on challenges regarding new technologies with companies, including overseas firms. We always continue with our efforts and strive for higher customer satisfaction.

[Business description]
Our company has been flexibly meeting needs for enhancement, diversification, and price reduction in the niche field of airtight and liquid-tight sealing with battery gasket products for over 35 years. We are now developing, experimentally creating, and mass-producing gaskets for automobile-mounted lithium-ion batteries, which are made by battery manufacturers in Japan and abroad. We have accumulated technologies for verification, material, and forming through our gasket production. We will make use of these technologies to launch new businesses (shift from metal to resin) in this term. This will be done mainly to handle PPS, fluorocarbon resin (PFA), and thermosetting resin with heat resistance and chemical resistance. This is how we will contribute to creating new value.

[Strength of products/technologies]
We have been forming gaskets for lithium-ion batteries for many years. These gaskets are made of difficult-to-form materials such as fluorocarbon resin (PFA), PPS, and thermosetting resin. We share basic data about various resins with resin manufacturers. We can propose materials to implement part functions and perform fluidal analysis simulations at the part design stage. This makes it possible to verify resin molding and contraction in advance. We can apply our accumulated know-how to propose changes of part shapes and improve the integrity of part designs to reduce manufacturing trials, development periods, and costs.

[Representative's message]
"Doing what no one can do will produce unique technology." We have planned, designed, and manufactured a great many mechanical parts as a precision plastic processing manufacturer with this as our philosophy. Our unique technologies for PFA processing and production and thermosetting resin production are highly appreciated among users (we have the top share of the global market for lithium-ion battery gaskets). We will provide technologies for actualizing functions from plans and designs, giving them shape, and mass-producing them.

[Company structure for market development/overseas expansion]
Our company joined the field of battery gaskets in 1979. We have been doing business with major enterprises (electronic equipment and automobiles) for the ensuing 35 years through major battery manufacturers in Japan and abroad. Our internal system consists of development, production, and quality assurance departments, and it functions in an integrated form. We receive many inquiries from new customers (battery manufacturers) and businesses (shifting from metal to resin) from Japan and abroad. This is because we have assigned sales staff in the development department to strengthen the pipeline between the development staff and the sales staff.

[Market share/Ranking]
We have the top share of the global market for automotive lithium-ion battery gaskets.
