Katagi Aluminium Seisakusho Co., Ltd.
We offer integrated production of aluminum products, from melting to final products, including fine sheets.
We are the only company from among the nine aluminum plate manufacturers in Japan that can make thin sheets of less than 0.2 mm in thickness. Our company makes coils, plates, round plates, and a number of other shapes. We use mainly pure aluminum (99.0% and up) as well as 6000-, 7000-, and 3000-series aluminum alloy plates. High-mix low-volume production, short lead times, and small lots are our strengths. Our products are supplied for electronic parts, transformer winding material, wire covering, car radiators, industrial heat exchanger fin material, air conditioner fin material, and so on. Our production sites are located in Tottori and Osaka. Our auxiliary material for printed circuit board drilling has a 50% of the domestic Japanese market.
[Company strength] Our aluminum operation covers from melting to the final product, and our company has the same level of processing and quality control as major companies in the field. We can handle high-mix low-volume production, small lot production, and short lead times. We are the only mid-scale company from among the nine aluminum plate manufacturers in Japan that can manufacture aluminum sheets thinner than 0.2 mm. [Business description] We manufacture and sell aluminum plates (wrought material). Our company makes various shapes (e.g., coils, plates, round plates) in our head office and plant. We use mainly pure aluminum (99.0% and up), and 6000-, 7000-, and 3000-series aluminum alloy plates. High-mix low-volume production, short lead times, and small lots are our strengths, and we supply our products to a wide range of industries. These include electronic parts, transformer winding material, wire covering, car radiator material, industrial heat exchanger fin material, and air conditioner fin material. [Industry] Aluminum plate manufacturing [Strength of products/technologies] Our Oyama plant can manufacture aluminum sheets as thin as 0.07 mm with a six-stage cold rolling mill, using continuous casting material from the horizontal roll casting system. This is a melted aluminum alloy that is continuously cast so as to make it thin (4.5 to 8.0 mm). We use pure aluminum (99.0% and up) and 3000-, 6000-, and 7000-series materials (ingredients), but we can use various alloys on request. We deal with sizes (lots) from 960 mm (width) by 1500 mm (outer diameter) coils to small coils with a width of 7 mm. We provide square plates (200 by 200 mm and over) and round plates (diameter 150 mm and over). Our aqueous surface treatment system can apply aqueous film forming treatment to aluminum sheets (0.3 to 0.09 mm in thickness). This is done to add various properties such as water slipping, water repellency, hydrophilicity, corrosion resistance, fungus resistance, and oil resistance. [Representative's message] Our company is pouring new efforts into the pursuit of infinite possibilities. We will continue to pursue new technologies to enhance our quality and abilities, while striving for the infinite potential of technology. We will make use of our accumulated overseas expansion know-how from aluminum rolling mill plant design, manufacturing, and operation in emerging countries to promote next-generation products. [Company structure for market development/overseas expansion] Our head office and sales offices (Osaka, Nagoya, Tokyo) each have a focal point for sales promotion and overseas expansion. This is provided to smoothly conduct planning, actual tasks, and responses to inquiries from new customers, or replies on new products, while exchanging detailed information with our plants (Oyama, Sennan). These departments also serve as a point of contact for technical consultations. Engineers and production personnel from the Oyama and Sennan plants will be involved if the situation requires it. They will visit the customer if it is necessary to solve a problem. We obtained ISO 9001 certification in 2011 to ensure quality control. [Market share/Ranking] (1) Various heat exchanger fin materials: 40%. (2) Auxiliary material for drilling on printed circuit boards: 20%. (3) Transformer winding material: 25%. (4) Wire covering: 10%. [Awards and media coverage] [Awards] Development Encouragement Award (Japan Aluminum Association), for OK Sheet development (2010). [Media] Nikkan Sangyo Shimbun, “Development of High Heat Radiation Aluminum Plate: Clear Coating Protects Luster” (January 30, 2013); and so on. [Authorization/Certification] ISO 9001 (since 2011); New Partnerships (2006 to 2011) [Joint research and development] Tottori Institute of Industrial Technology: OK Sheet, and DCEXP (surface treatment material for heat exchangers). Faculty of Engineering, Tottori University: MD material for auto parts. [Main Clients / Business History (domestic)] Air conditioner heat exchanger fin material: Corona, Toshiba Carrier. Building air conditioner heat exchanger fin material: Shinko Air Conditioning IndustrialHeat exchanger fin material: Sumitomo Precision Products.Transformer winding material: Takaoka Chemical, Toshiba, Mitsubishi Electric, Daihen. Wire covering: Fujikura, Nishi Nippon Electric Wire, Furukawa Electric.Entry sheet for printed circuit board drilling: CMK Products, Kyocera, Sagami PCI, Elna. [Main Clients / Business History (overseas)] We have exported plant equipment (various kinds of aluminum production equipment) to Southeast Asia, including Korea, China, Taiwan, Thailand, and Indonesia.
