Circle One Co., Ltd.
We are a software manufacturer aiming to expand business operations with communications devices for disaster response use.
We develop and market security-related systems and business software. We have an established track record in developing Internet-related software, which is the area where we have the greatest confidence. Our Cosmos Talk portable small IP communications device for disaster response use was developed in the aftermath of the Great East Japan Earthquake in March 2011. It runs on NTT DoCoMo’s FOMA network. Calls are made by converting voice information into data packets, sending the data packets, and reconverting the data packets into voice information. We are marketing and expanding sales of Cosmos Talk as an inexpensive and straightforward means to ensure essential communications in business continuity plans. This business venture received New Partnerships approval from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry in October 2014.
Other presentation
[Company strength] Our strength as a company is in conceiving things from a slightly different perspective from the mainstream of society and actually bringing new plans and ideas to fruition. Examples include home security contracts with a reputable security firm for just 980 yen a month, and a system that links layout sketches with remote monitoring cameras and sensors. We have also created a plastic greenhouse air conditioning system that uses tires for fuel. We created a program for our current IP communications devices that transforms computers into communications devices. We always think from the user’s perspective when developing products, so we believe we possess creative ideas that no other company has. [Business description] We began by developing computer programs, but we entered the wireless world as computers transformed into communications devices. Our company has grown since its establishment in 1988 with a main focus on developing, designing, and marketing security-related systems and business software. We are particularly skilled at developing Internet-related software. We started to develop a straightforward, portable communications device with good call quality in the aftermath of the Great East Japan Earthquake in March 2011. We successfully developed the Cosmos Talk portable small IP communications device for disaster response use. [Industry] Information and communications industry [Strength of products/technologies] The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry granted approval for our new partnerships department under its New Partnerships program. Disaster response wireless systems are widely used as a means of communication during disasters and emergencies. However, they have drawbacks including small communication areas and substantial initial investments in antenna installations and obtaining licenses. Mobile phones are only capable of one-to-one calls, which rarely get through during emergencies when telecommunications providers place drastic restrictions on voice calls. Our portable Cosmos Talk product is an IP communications device that runs on NTT DoCoMo’s FOMA network. Calls are made by converting voice information into data packets, sending the data packets, and reconverting the data packets into voice information. Cosmos Talk is an inexpensive, straightforward means of ensuring essential communications in business continuity plans. [Representative's message] Our company’s strength is creative manufacturing from the user’s perspective, rather than the manufacturer’s perspective. Our disaster response wireless devices run on computers and Internet connections that the user already has, and they are perfect examples of user-oriented products. Local governments are facing tough times, but disaster response wireless systems are absolutely essential to protect the lives of residents. We went ahead with the development of these products out of our company’s strong desire to contribute to society. We anticipate demand from overseas for our newly developed IP communications devices, and we have received inquiries from Indonesia and elsewhere. Our company is united in pursuing new sales opportunities. [Company structure for market development/overseas expansion] We are a small, regional startup enterprise, so we have to partner with larger corporations and engage in joint development to develop products and open up markets. Our sales representatives respond openly and earnestly to questions from customers. Our president takes the lead in responding to technical inquiries. Our representatives are willing to meet with clients directly in either case. JETRO is currently assisting us with overseas expansion, but we will be setting up a structure to handle overseas business transactions. [Awards and media coverage] [Awards] [Media] Portable IP communication devices, smartphone business wireless, and so on. [Authorization/Certification] Our business venture for the Cosmos Talk portable small IP communications device for disaster response use received New Partnerships approval in October 2014.
