[Company strength]
Inspection systems for product appearance and pattern used to be developed separately for individual applications. These included the laser method and the CCD line camera method, which has only one-ninth the accuracy of the human eye (surface ratio). Our company has realized far superior performance to human-eye inspection through a custom-developed electronic camera having 4000 times higher resolution than full hi-vision, and a supercomputer that performs neural computing. This system was developed in-house, and successfully replaces human eye inspection and periodic pattern inspection with a general purpose system.

We have productized automatic defect detection systems as well as more advanced systems for providing information that helps to identify the cause of a defect.

[Strength of products/technologies]
There are 3 fields in image processing: (1) visual inspection, (2) pattern inspection, and (3) text reading. Our company excels at (1) and (2), particularly for patterns that have a consistent trend.
One-pass sensing technology (patented): Humans need to look from different angles to detect color difference and surface irregularity. Our latest method detects both elements just by monitoring a moving object on the line only once. This system has a function to avoid total reflection, which is a major obstacle to image processing. It can conduct automatic visual inspection on vehicles, which have complex shapes, and all kinds of other products in a more reliable manner before they are shipped.

Our automatic visual inspection system is patented in 14 countries worldwide. Our system has been adopted by leading manufacturers in more than 30 industries, such as automobiles, steel, film, semiconductors, and liquid crystal displays. It has been delivered to more than 70% of the top 50 manufacturers in Japan, or over 240 companies listed in the First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange. Conventional CCD cameras (in the case of 4K) have only one-ninth the accuracy of human-eye inspection. The resolution of our device is 144 times higher than visual inspection, so we can say that its resolution is 1000 times higher than a CCD camera.

[Joint research and development]
Our electronic reproduction of eye movement and cells was greatly influenced by a personal connection with Professor Hiroshi Yagi of Toyama University. The image processing was also influenced by Professor Mikio Takagi at the Institute of Industrial Science of the University of Tokyo.
