FUTA-Q, Ltd.

Our company was the first in the world to manufacture β titanium alloy small-diameter pipes, which we achieved by making use of our original technologies.

Our company excels at micromachining difficult-to-cut materials, such as stainless steel, titanium, Hastelloy, and Inconel, as well as microfabrication of small-diameter pipes using mainly titanium alloy. Our corporate philosophy is to have big dreams with small-size Monozukuri craftsmanship. We have made core parts for top manufacturers in a wide range of fields.

Femtosecond laser precision processing
Features
Processing by ultrashort pulsed-laser (femto) is significantly less affected by heat. It is effective for external surfaces of resin and glass materials with low melting points. Various kinds of microfabrication can be performed on the inside of clear materials to give characteristics of flexible motion and light to the materials.
(1) Ultrashort pulsed-laser processing (1 femtosecond (fs) is 10^−15 seconds)
(2) Less affected by heat
A heat denaturation zone around a portion processed is small because the effect of heat conduction can be reduced.
(3) High processing accuracy (processing accuracy: submicron–several microns or less)
Examples of processing
■ Processing of shapes of biomass plastic stents (material: polylactic acid tubes)
■ Processing of sapphire glass (material: sapphire glass)
■ Processing of medical tubes (material: medical polyimide tubes)
Thin fluoropolymer film coating “FC-180” (patent pending)
Features
This water/oil repellent coating can improve the draining of nozzles and reduce contamination. Extremely thin fluoropolymer film that forms has little impact on the shapes of precision parts, including the internal dimensions of thin nozzles and surface roughness.
(1) Water/oil repellency of fluoropolymer film coating with film thickness of 1 µm or less
(2) Chemical resistance to sodium hypochlorite solutions having bactericidal effect
Test example: After testing pieces (SUS316L, Ti-22V-4Al) coated with “FC-180” were impregnated by a 10% sodium hypochlorite solution and vibrated by ultrasonic waves for 90 minutes, no significant deterioration of water repellency or change of film thickness was observed.
Examples of processing
■ Coating of plate materials (materials: SUS, titanium alloy)
■ Coating of the inside of thin pipes (materials: SUS, titanium alloy)
* Coating of other materials (such as quartz glass and ceramic) is being developed.

[Company strength]
Our company was the first to provide integrated production of β titanium pipes. Our products have earned high evaluations from top medical analyzer manufacturers. We will continue to enhance our technologies in these fields without limiting ourselves to a specific area. Our goal is to provide satisfying solutions to technical problems for customers in various fields.

[Business description]
We develop, design, and manufacture core mechanisms for medical, analysis, and industrial devices as well as other general industrial products.
We conduct machining of precision machine parts (various kinds of combined machining; production of small-diameter seamless pipes; high-speed micromachining; machining of difficult-to-cut materials, such as Hastelloy, Inconel, titanium, and SUS).
We offer manufacturing, sales, and proposals relating to small-diameter β titanium alloy pipes. Our company was the first in the world to make small-diameter pipes using β titanium alloy, which we achieved by making use of our unique technologies. We have applied our original technologies (micromachining, internal grinding, and laser welding) to create a number of β titanium products, including spiral pipes, needles, micro-forceps, and multi-nozzles (dispenser nozzles). We also manufacture dissimilar-material hybrid nozzles, and perform micromachining with nickel/titanium alloy and 64 titanium alloy.
We sell screw locking devices for eyeglasses.
We provide wire rods for eyeglasses.

[Industry]
Manufacturing (precision machine parts)

[Strength of products/technologies]
Our company particularly excels at micromachining with difficult-to-cut materials, such as stainless steel, titanium, Hastelloy, and Inconel. We are also strong in microfabrication, laser welding, and bore grinding, mainly with small-diameter titanium alloy pipes. Our main products include high-precision machined metal parts, small-diameter titanium alloy pipes, and other micro-fabricated products made from them. These include elastic pipes, spiral pipes, β titanium needles, titanium micro forceps, β titanium multi-nozzles (dispenser nozzles), and hybrid nozzles (made of multiple dissimilar materials). These products can have a surface roughness of up to Ra 0.02 because of our original bore grinding technology.

[Representative's message]
Our advanced processing technologies have earned trust from many customers in various fields. Our company operates in advanced markets, so we invest in convenient office locations, a pleasant office environment, original technologies, and research facilities to actively conduct business on a global scale. Our corporate philosophy is to have big dreams with small-size Monozukuri craftsmanship. We hope to pursue opportunities in a broader range of fields so we can contribute to society and the world.

[Company structure for market development/overseas expansion]
We are the world’s only small-diameter β titanium pipe manufacturer. Our company distributes these products in Europe, America, and various countries. Our pipes excel in biocompatibility, corrosion resistance, weightlessness, and elasticity, so they have been used mainly in the medical and analysis fields, and they are highly valued by our customers. We plan to bring in consultants for the overseas sales department, and set up dedicated overseas sales representative positions to pursue further opportunities in other fields.

[Market share/Ranking]
Our β titanium alloy small-diameter pipes and related products have a share of 100% of the domestic Japanese and overseas markets.
