Aska Electric Co., Ltd.

We are a well-established manufacturer that has been in the liquid crystal panel inspection equipment market for over 20 years.

Our company designs and manufactures electronics applied products, mostly consisting of liquid crystal panel and printed board inspection equipment. We have a distinguished track record in liquid crystal panel inspection equipment, supporting various kinds of panels from early TFT liquid crystal panels to the latest panels. We have been in this market for more than 20 years. We have developed a hydrogen storage alloy applied product, and we recently entered the medical device industry. We have many ongoing and past joint developments with universities and public institutions.

[Company strength]
Our company has all the technologies for designing and developing necessary mechatronics device hardware from the design to prototyping phases. We also have all the core processing and inspection equipment in-house for accurate and quick development and manufacturing in response to customer requests. In the mechanics field we conduct machining and inspection within 1-μm precision, in addition to circuit design and program development for PCs, microcomputers, and FPGA. This is done using machining centers with built-in 5-axis super-high-speed linear motors and non-contact 3D coordinate measuring machines. We take all possible measures to ensure that circuits operate perfectly. We use an environmental testing device, a 96-channel logic analyzer, 800-Mhz 4-channel 60M digital storage scopes (2 units), a fully automatic 2-edge crimping machine, and x-ray board inspection equipment.

[Business description]
Our company designs and manufactures electronic equipment and applied products, and we sell liquid crystal panel and printed board inspection equipment, among other devices. We also develop plantar sensitivity inspection equipment, liquid crystal flicker adjustment jigs, olfactometers (odor stimulation equipment), taste stimulation equipment, and other products in response to customer requests. We are also developing hydrogen storage alloy applied products as a different line of business.

[Industry]
Electronic equipment design and manufacturing

[Strength of products/technologies]
We have developed many kinds liquid crystal panel inspection equipment to inspect the various panels that have been created since the early years of TFT liquid crystal panels. Some of our equipment is still in use after nearly 20 years of service. This demonstrates that the equipment we provide excels in quality, operational stability, and durability. We made the most of these technologies to develop our Heart Walking Pacemaker for heart rehabilitation, which we have delivered to many hospitals. This product has also been used for a long time (20 years) without a single accident. In addition, we are actively working on new fields. We have recently developed hydrogen absorbing alloy applied technologies. We are also manufacturing actuators as well as slide mechanisms that move according to the temperature (because of their built-in MH display devices). These are just a few example of our enthusiasm.

[Representative's message]
Our company has mainly been engaged in design, manufacturing, and sales of board inspection equipment and liquid crystal panel inspection equipment since its establishment in 1949. Our sales grew as Japanese manufacturers expanded overseas and placed orders for inspection jig design and manufacturing for their overseas plants. We made use of this strength to enter the healthcare industry to make our next leap forward, and developed a plantar sensitivity measuring device. This a measuring device that is useful for the early detection of diabetes and fall prevention for elderly people. We hope to cultivate markets mainly for these products both in Japan and overseas, and contribute to the extension of healthy life expectancy worldwide.

[Company structure for market development/overseas expansion]
We have staff in charge of new customers acting as the point of contact for major companies and overseas companies. Engineers and sales force engineers respond to technical inquires. This may result in a visit or meeting with the customer, if necessary. Responses to new customers and overseas customers are directly overseen by the president. Information gathering and management are conducted centrally, with sufficient control.

[Market share/Ranking]
If our pharmaceutical application is granted, our plantar sensitivity inspection apparatus will be in an advantageous position to acquire a large share of the market. This is because there are no similar goods. It will also be in a good position when sold as a home health management device as there are no such devices currently on the market.
