Yamashita Kogyosho Co., Ltd.

Monozukuri craftsmanship to create the face of the Shinkansen, handed down with the evolution and refinement of sheet metal forming.

We create head structures (faces), cabs, and platforms for rolling stock by means of a technique called sheet metal forming. No dedicated press mold is necessary. Even a metal product having a three-dimensional surface can be manufactured in a short time and at low cost regardless of quantity and size. The forming accuracy is about ±1 mm. This method is applicable from parts larger than 10 m, like the face of a Shinkansen, to palm-sized parts. We also perform high-mix low-volume production of precision sheet metal parts for Intel, and other semiconductor device manufacturing equipment.

[Company strength]
We are inheriting the sheet metal forming craftsmanship established by the founder while refining and evolving it.
We have 10 craftsmen, which is more than any other establishment in Japan. We also have the greatest number of forming machines used for rough processing (first half process) in Japan (Eckold, Ltd.).
We have all the equipment and machines necessary for sheet metal working in-house, including semiconductor device manufacturing equipment.
Recipient of investment by government VC (company investing in and cultivating SMEs). Sound governance and financial status.

[Business description]
(1) Rolling stock parts manufacturing: High-mix low-volume production of parts having three-dimensional surfaces, such as the head structures (faces), cabs, and platforms of streamlined Shinkansen bullet trains and other rolling stock.
(2) Precision sheet metal parts manufacturing: High-mix low-volume production of precision sheet metal parts for Intel and TSMC semiconductor device manufacturing equipment by applying and evolving the precision part manufacturing know-how acquired for rolling stock.

[Strength of products/technologies]
Sheet metal forming can produce three-dimensional surfaces without the use of dedicated press molds.
Even metal products having three-dimensional surfaces can be manufactured in a short time at low cost, regardless of the quantity or size (dimensions). The forming accuracy is about ±1 mm. This technology is applicable to large parts over 10 meters, like the face of the Shinkansen, to palm-sized parts.

[Representative's message]
We are now exploiting fields where we can serve customers with sheet metal forming and precision sheet metal working technologies.
If you think molding or machining is not cost-effective, please ask about single parts or small-quantity production of metal products with three-dimensional surfaces or that are too large for pressing. We may be able to help you.

[Company structure for market development/overseas expansion]
We have been trained by the Hitachi Group for the half-century since our foundation.
We have all the production facilities necessary for sheet metal working in-house.
We believe that our experience in making Shinkansen faces has raised the quantity and quality of our craftsmen and facilities for sheet metal forming to the highest level in Japan.
Our low rate of defects and high rate of observing delivery dates have been highly evaluated.

[Market share/Ranking]
A little under 50%* Head structures for the latest Shinkansen bullet trains (Tohoku, Akita, Yamagata, and Hokuriku Shinkansen lines). The market share of the Hitachi Group almost exactly matches our company’s industry share.
