HARMOTEC corporation
We contribute to semiconductor manufacturing through noncontact transfer technology and low-stress transfer technology for ultrathin wafers.
We deal with special-shape wafers and cells, and have acquired the largest share of the world market through our unique patented technology. A whirlwind is generated within our CUP transfer equipment, and the pressure occurring in the core of the whirlwind is used to transfer a product. This transfer equipment was created from a new concept that solves common problems such as scratches on the product, dust adherence, and porous cushioning materials not being absorbed for transfer. Our company’s elite personnel can cover a wide range of operations, from development to production.
Other presentation
[Company strength] Our company’s elite personnel can cover a wide range of operations from development to production. We can differentiate ourselves from the competition, and offer high value-added products making the most of our technical strength through intellectual property strategies. Most of our products are unconventional, including wafers and cells with special shapes. This is why we are more knowledgeable than our customers about handling such products. We are able to provide not only components, but also our skills concerning their usage and operation. [Business description] Our company mainly develops and sells components used in semiconductor equipment and other manufacturing equipment. We are also entering the FPD (flat panel display for LCD TV) and solar cell industries using our own unique technologies. [Industry] Manufacturing [Strength of products/technologies] We have acquired the largest share of the world market through our unique patented noncontact transfer technology, and low stress transfer technology for ultrathin wafers. We have earned customer satisfaction by customizing all components to suit the customer’s specifications. [Representative's message] A whirlwind is generated inside our CUP transfer equipment, and the pressure that occurs in the core of the whirlwind is used to transfer a product. Conventional transfer equipment always has issues of scratches on the product, dust adherence, and porous cushioning materials not being absorbed for transfer. This example shows how we propose new concepts in transfer equipment that resolve all the issues associated with suction conveyance. [Company structure for market development/overseas expansion] All processes are run by a small number of our own employees to ensure quality control. We usually employ the support of external partner companies for mass production. Most of our products are customized according to the customer’s specifications. This can be expedited and exact if our engineers can have meetings with the customer to discuss issues directly. [Market share/Ranking] Acquired 80% of the domestic Japanese market, and 50% of the overseas market. [Awards and media coverage] [Awards] Yamanashi Prefecture Monozukuri Award (2010); Yamanashi Prefecture Good Design Award (2004). [Media] Tokyo Television, WBS, “Challenge of Venture Companies;” Television Yamanashi, “Lively Company in Yamanashi.” [Joint research and development] Tokyo Institute of Technology (noncontact transfer equipment). [Transaction form] Orders for trial manufacturing and development, OEM contracts, license contracts, and joint development. [Transaction terms] Lump-sum payment in the month following delivery and inspection. [Main Clients / Business History (domestic)] Semiconductor makers (5), semiconductor equipment makers (32), FPD manufacturing equipment makers (2), solar cell makers (2), and solar cell equipment makers (3).* *Number of companies. [Main Clients / Business History (overseas)] Semiconductor makers (4), and semiconductor equipment makers (4).* *Number of companies. [Exhibition History/Information] SEMICON Japan (every year since 1998); SEMICON West (2008); SEMICON Korea (2008, 2009); SEMICON Japan (planned).
