SEKIYA CO., LTD.
We develop long-life, low-cost storage batteries.
Our company received New Partnerships approval from the Kyushu Bureau of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry in FY2009, and we manufacture storage batteries while researching long battery life. We developed a recyclable lead-acid storage battery that is simple and easy to use. Batteries installed for emergency use have the same operating life as a lithium-ion battery as well as great output. A hybrid storage battery is under development. We accept orders for storage batteries meeting customer needs. We developed DS Charge (about 1 cm-square) to prevent the deterioration of lead-acid batteries. We are now working hard for longer battery lives by preventing sulfation, which causes lead-acid batteries to deteriorate.
Sales Pitch
- Photovoltaic rechargeable batteries, automobile batteries, batteries for start-stop systems, forklift batteries
-
We sell batteries with more than doubled lifespans. We wholesale high-performance batteries to dealers all over Japan. We have exported 10 million OEM batteries. Our battery technology has been proven in joint research and papers with the Fukuoka Institute of Technology. We also provide various products related to batteries. EUROPOWER Battery is our proprietary portable battery brand.
Other presentation
[Company strength] In the battery business, we have developed the unique technologies for lead-acid batteries listed below. 1. DS Charge, which is a device as small as 1 square centimeter that prevents a main cause of lead-acid battery deterioration (about 80% to 90% due to sulfation). It makes lead-acid batteries usable for a long time. 2. A renewing device that corrects the imbalance of a cell (2V) that causes battery deterioration (capable of renewing used batteries to their initial performance). 3. Customized storage batteries and efficient and low-cost storage batteries for direct charging with electric power generated by photovoltaic power generation. (This is promising as storage batteries for photovoltaic power generation as we near the end of electricity sales.) 4. Emergency power supplies for emergency use in the event of a disaster. These were developed by joint research with Miyazaki Prefectural Police, and are based on the battery technologies we accumulated for many years. [Business description] (1) We sell lead-acid battery renewing devices, new batteries, and renewed batteries. We received New Partnerships approval by the Kyushu Bureau of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry as a battery 3R business. (This is a business to use new batteries longer, to renew and sell discarded batteries, and to recycle unusable batteries into resources.) (2) We manufacture and sell customized large-capacity lead-acid storage batteries (10 kWh to 30 kWh or more) with no grid connection. (3) We sell the ultra-small (1 cm-square) Charge battery deterioration prevention device, which suppresses sulfation. (4) We sell lead-acid battery activators. (5) We import and sell new batteries nationwide as an agency of Hyundai, which is the largest corporate group in Korea. [Industry] Construction, general battery sales, storage battery manufacturing, and battery renewal [Strength of products/technologies] Our company has 10 years of data and experience in research for battery life extension. In a joint research project we made batteries for a transport company that have not required replacement for 10 years. Long-term battery use reduces costs. The Miyazaki Prefectural Police started to adopt storage batteries with no grid connection (instantaneous switching). These batteries have large capacities from 10 kWh to 60 kWh, and are used as emergency power supplies for traffic lights and communications equipment. This technology was certified by Miyazaki Prefecture as a new technology. Our latest technology is DS Charge for preventing the deterioration of lead-acid batteries. DS Charge is a device as small as 1 square centimeter, and it can be embedded in a lead-acid battery to greatly extend its operating life. This is our unrivaled advantage. [Representative's message] In April 2014 we developed a device-installed battery that is free of sulfation, which is a cause of battery deterioration (80% to 90%). This could extend a battery’s operating life by as long as one to two years. Our battery technology has produced a completely recyclable lead-acid battery that costs less than a lithium-ion battery. This lead-acid battery will attract attention as a battery beyond lithium-ion batteries. This will greatly contribute to reducing the cost of lead-acid batteries in Japan and abroad. We deal with batteries for automobiles, forklifts, construction devices, agricultural devices, fishery devices, and any other purposes, including UPS. We are seeking partners and waiting for inquiries. [Company structure for market development/overseas expansion] Four staff members, including the representative director, now visit customers to explain requested transactions. Our technology and manufacturing departments are in charge of technical consulting and their staff directly visit customers as required to solve issues. The president oversees the staff in support for new customers. We will also sincerely support overseas customers, including information collection and management. [Market share/Ranking] Top battery stock in the South Kyushu area. [Awards and media coverage] [Awards] Miyazaki Prefecture Central Federation of Societies of Commerce and Industry, Governor’s Award, 2011. Miyazaki Monozukuri Craftsmanship Award, FY2011.
