Plastics are widely used in applications from industrial products to daily necessities. They have an established position as essential materials. Synthetic resins are made from petroleum through various chemical reaction processes and then formed and processed into products. Plastics are roughly classified into thermoplastic and thermosetting types. Thermoplastic resins soften and melt each time they are heated and harden when they are cooled. Thermosetting resins do not soften once they are hardened, even when they are reheated. The thermoplastic resins polyethylene, polypropylene, vinyl chloride resin, polystyrene, polyethylene phthalate (PET resin), and methacrylate resin (acrylate resin) are called “general-purpose plastics.” They are used for packaging materials and PET bottles as well as for automotive interiors and exteriors and home electronics appliances such as air conditioners. Polycarbonate, polyamide (nylon), and fluorine resin are called “engineering plastics.” They are used for camera lenses as well as for DVD and CD discs and automotive intake tubes. Phenol resin, melamine, resin, polyurethane, and epoxy resin belong to the category of thermosetting resins. They are used for printed wiring boards, IC sealants, and plywood adhesives.

Our work mats are used for lines in fruit sorting centers and delivery centers. We use CR rubber sponge material, which is mainly composed of chloroprene rubber. Chloroprene rubber has medium oil and heat resistance, so the mats are lightweight and have excellent tear strength. They are also excellent as heat insulating materials because of their low thermal conductivity and water absorption. These mats are also affective as cushions because of their moderate shock characteristics. This improves the working environment and efficiency.

We established a manufacturing method that realizes downsizing and weight reduction for resin products that were made by insert molding, which is a field we specialize in. This was done in a project approved by METI under the New Partnerships program in 2006. In this project we formed an alliance with other advanced technology companies that can manufacture high-precision insert metals. This was how we realized high technological accuracy, such as complete elimination of cut taper, and dimensional accuracy of 0.01 mm, which were goals required by the customer. We achieved this through persistent efforts starting from the structure proposal in the design phase to the final phase of prototype making and verification. Our development engineers will work together as a team to overcome technical difficulties until the customer is satisfied with the level we achieve.

We have improved their vibration isolating performance at low frequency (20-30Hz) by wrapping the metallic springs with low-resistance urethane. We can design and manufacture vibration-proof materials which can handle a wide range of loads from light to heavy loads by altering the wire diameters of the springs. They have simpler structures than conventional dampers which utilize gas or oil, and thus achieve greater cost reduction.

We make use of our technological experience from our core business with injection molding operations as a base to realize thin resin molding. We can provide an integrated prototype manufacturing flow specifically for the technology employed at the time of mold making. This includes the mold structure, resin flow analysis, verification, and quality verification. We have achieved t 0.2 mm with PPS material in stable thin resin molding production. We have used metal as well as glass as a material for integration in insert molding. We will pursue both methods using our mold technology as a key. This is done to provide experimental support for establishing valid manufacturing methods and device installation conditions so that we can finish products at the required quality level.

We provide proposals for resin material and fabrication technologies that utilize naturally derived materials such as biomass.

We have established a framework in our long-term resin molding business in which we satisfy most required specifications with increasingly rare thermosetting resin by differentiating functionalities. (This does take time to deal with differences in the manufacturing method.) We have partnerships with many suppliers, which are done mainly through technical partnerships. This is how we can propose material development whenever necessary. There are a wide range of manufacturing methods within our organization. This is because conventional injection molding alone often cannot process naturally-derived materials. As a result this requires a combination of methods for handling the material, including transfer molding and direct pressure molding. We have these optional methods available, so we will propose such a combination along with the development of the necessary manufacturing equipment.
