Maritime Display Co., Ltd.
We provide 3D measurement and design services for ships.
We manufacture and sell metallic nameplates for ships and film products for ships and sell corrosion inhibitor. We are the first company that introduced the printing technique of “sublimable heat transfer” that attains high durability, weather resistance and visibility by gasifying the dispersed dye by heating and impregnating metallic plates, coated in a hard resin, with the gasified dye. Sand bag tags with QR code were adopted for decontamination sites in areas afflicted by the Great East Japan Earthquake. We have open patents for display plate order reception and production system, display plate order reception equipment, display place order reception program, and record media. We are working on the “development and commercialization of new design services for ships using explosion-proof 3D scanners” as a new coordinated business.
[Company strength] Nippon Maritime Display Co., Ltd. is the first company to introduce the printing technique of “sublimable heat transfer.” We coat nameplates with our unique weather-resistant paint and created products resistant to severe marine conditions that surpass conventional products in durability, weather resistance and visibility. We are also expanding sales channels into fields other than ships. For example, we proposed sand bag tags with QR codes, and our tags were adopted for use at decontamination sites at Soma city, Fukushima pref., and other places affected by the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake. We are committed to providing users with optimal proposals that best fit their uses and locations and producing every nameplate carefully, elaborately, and swiftly. [Business description] We support the advancement of the shipping industry through our business activities including manufacture and sale of metallic ship nameplates, including metallic nameplates for ships and valve nameplates; manufacture and sales of film products for ships including ISO symbol markings; provision of design service for installation of ballast water treatment systems in existing ships; and sales of rust preventive (rust conversion) agents. [Industry] Manufacturing and design of ships [Strength of products/technologies] Our ship nameplates are characterized by impregnating ink into resin-coated metallic plates to express the design and excellent protection of metallic surfaces. The resin layer (clear coating membrane) is also mixed with fouling inhibitor and UVA to prevent discoloration. The rear surface is also coated with clear paint to enhance corrosion resistance. The high performance is also proven by various tests and are certified through JIS durability, weather resistance and corrosion resistance tests and exposure to coastal conditioning tests (over five years). Our products have been steadily increasing in sales since the start of 2004. For example, our products were adopted by the technical committee of the Cooperative Association of Japanese Shipbuilders. [Representative's message] Nippon Maritime Display Co., Ltd. is the first company in Japan to use the printing technique of “sublimable heat transfer” to ship nameplates. We created nameplate products that are resistant to severe marine conditions and are more durable, weather resistant and visible than conventional products by coating them with our unique weather-resistant paint. Our business centers on displays related to ships. Using this technical know-how, we have steadily accumulated our technology over the past decade to provide our new technology to the world. We continue to support the evolution of the ship industry with our advanced technology. We set up the Marine Design Department in 2015 to start on new design engineering related to installation of ballast water treatment equipment using our 3D scanner-based measurements and 3D modeling. [Company structure for market development/overseas expansion] We display our ship marking products as well as 3D models related to BWTS (ballast water treatment system) layout and piping at Japan’s largest international maritime exhibition, SEA JAPAN, to show our new technology to the ship industry and actively explore new sales channels. [Market share/Ranking] Our ship nameplates displaying Japanese ships, which were adopted by the technical committee of the Cooperative Association of Japan Shipbuilders, have been steadily increasing their sales since their first marketing in 2004. Now our nameplates are adopted by about 30% of newly built ocean liners in Japan (based on our own estimation). Over 1000 ships bear our nameplates. [Awards and media coverage] [Awards] Our project, “Support Project for Work Period Reduction and Cost Reduction of Ship Ballast Water Treatment Equipment Work by 3D Space Scanner Measurement and 3D Model Production” using the FY2015 supplementary budget, was certified as “SME Manufacturing, Commercial and Service Innovative Project” (Kyoto Prefectural Federation of Small Business Associations). Our project “development and commercialization of new design service for ships using explosion-proof 3d scanner” is certified as a “new collaboration project” (METI) in 2016. [Media] “Japan Finance Corporation Tokyo Branch gave a loan of ¥10 million to Nippon Maritime Display” by Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun, April 12, 2016, issue [Joint research and development] We developed a technique that can color metallic as well as polyester films as a result of changing subjects of transfer from textiles to metallic plates with the cooperation of the Organic Coating Research Division, Nisshin Steel Co., Ltd. In a new collaboration project, we intend to develop new design service using explosion-proof 3D scanners with the technical support of the University of Electro-Communications (Prof. Hiroshi Masuda). [Intellectual property] Tokkai 2005-266885 “display plate order reception and production system, display plate order reception equipment, display place order reception program, and record media” (joint patent application) [Transaction form] BtoB [Transaction terms] Basic: Close at the end of the month and payment by cash transfer at the end of the following month [Main Clients / Business History (domestic)] We have received orders from 29 shipbuilding companies and 9 equipment manufacturers in Japan. [Main Clients / Business History (overseas)] We have delivered our services or products to Shanghai, China, and Taiwan. [Exhibition History/Information] We participated in SEA JAPAN held in April 2016 (Tokyo Big Site). Plan to participate in BARI SHIP, May 2017 (Imabari).
