Kamada Needle Co., Ltd.
We flexibly perform polishing of all materials.
Our company was founded in 1914, and performs ultraprecise polishing for metals, resins, ceramic glass, single crystals, polycrystals, etc. We utilized our know-how and polishing skills developed for knitting needles, our original business, to expand into the field of electronics. We have a proven track record of polishing the plane surfaces and round surfaces of semiconductor wafers in the high-tech industry for the polishing of video heads in mass production. We excel at ultra-mirror surface processing (nickel surface roughness of 0.008 microns) and precise wrap processing with a thickness tolerance of one micron. We actively perform processing and experimental production to meet the demand for high precision and new materials, aiming to improve our technical capabilities and thus contribute to industry and society.
[Company strength] Our company was founded in 1914 and has celebrated its 100th anniversary. We respond to customers’ requests by leveraging our processing skills and know-how of various materials accumulated over one century. As a small company, we excel at providing a flexible response. [Business description] We perform ultraprecise polishing for all materials such as metals, ceramics and single-crystal materials. We collect materials from customers and process them with the required precision. We have a proven track record of processing metals (stainless steel, nickel, carbide, tungsten, copper tungsten, aluminum, titanium, copper, brass, kovar, hastelloy, etc.), ceramics (alumina, aluminum nitride, zirconia, sapphire, silicon carbide, etc.), glass (crystal, quartz, BK7, etc.) and others (ferrite single crystal/polycrystal, silicon single crystal/polycrystal, germanium, carbon, Teflon, etc.). [Industry] Metal ceramic processing business [Strength of products/technologies] Our strength is mainly mirror surface processing of the plane surfaces of metals, ceramics, single crystals, etc. (for example, Rz = 0.008 μm of nickel). Depending on the shape and material, we are also strong at precise wrap processing with a thickness tolerance of 1 μm. We perform mass-processing of the ultra-mirror surface of single-crystal material measuring diameter 120 × 5 t with a planarity of 0.3 μm or less. [Representative's message] We are using publicity on J-GoodTech to acquire new clients and meet their requests. We will improve our technical capabilities, and strive to contribute to industry and society. [Company structure for market development/overseas expansion] Our representative or senior engineer responds to inquiries from major companies. We have a system for responding attentively to consultation and experimental production. [Market share/Ranking] 60% or more of the worldwide market for particular components of semiconductor manufacturing devices (customer information) [Awards and media coverage] [Awards] [Media] Kansai TV “Yoidon! Tonari no Ningenkokuhou” (2015) [Joint research and development] Tohoku University New Industry Creation Hatchery Center (wrapping, polishing processing and experimental production of various materials) Technology Research Institute of Osaka Prefecture (mirror surface processing) Kyoto Institute of Technology (mirror surface processing) Fukui University of Technology (wrapping, polishing processing and experimental production of various materials) [Main Clients / Business History (domestic)] Major semiconductor device manufacturers (wrapping and polishing processing of semiconductor manufacturing device components); major electrical manufacturer (wrapping and polishing processing of machine components) [Main Clients / Business History (overseas)] Our processed products have been delivered indirectly to major semiconductor manufacturers in the U.S., Taiwan, Korea, etc.
