We have developed our own original tabletop synchrotron and electron accelerator.
We develop and sell our original MIRRORCLE tabletop synchrotron and MICROTRON electron accelerator. We realized these products by making use of the outcomes of long-term research carried out by Professor Hironari Yamada of Ritsumeikan University, who is the president of our company. His research outcomes have been adopted as our unique technology, which has resulted in downsizing the equipment. A conventional synchrotron (such as SPring-8) is a large-scale piece of equipment with a diameter exceeding 300 m. However, we succeeded in developing a small synchrotron with a minimum size of 0.4 m. This makes it possible to carry out advanced analysis (such as XAFS, SAX, and residual stress measurement) in the laboratory. We also deal with consignment inspection, evaluation, and analysis through our affiliate company.
[Company strength] We conducted joint R&D with Professor Hironari Yamada of Ritsumeikan University, acquired many patents, and have continued R&D and manufacturing of our tabletop synchrotron and electron accelerator for 20 years. A conventional synchrotron (such as SPring-8) is a large-scale facility with a diameter exceeding 300 m. However, we succeeded in developing a small synchrotron with a minimum size of 0.4 m by making use of our globally unique technology. This makes it possible to carry out advanced analysis (such as XAFS, SAX, and residual stress measurement) using a tabletop synchrotron in the laboratory. We also developed an electron accelerator that is smaller in size and has higher performance than previous devices. [Business description] We develop, design, manufacture, and sell the MIRRORCLE tabletop synchrotron and MICROTRON electron accelerator, with consignment inspection, evaluation, and analysis provided by an affiliated company. Our products are globally unique equipment that can achieve the world’s top resolution as a high-energy X-ray generator. We perform all design in-house. We also conduct equipment assembly and adjustment in an integrated manner. We offer products in addition to our X-ray source. We manufacture and sell products such as CT equipment, advanced analysis equipment (XAFS, SAX and residual stress measuring equipment), terahertz analyzers, and sterilization equipment. [Industry] Electric machine and tool manufacturing [Strength of products/technologies] Our X-ray generator can radiate X-rays with higher energy compared with an X-ray generator that uses a conventional X-ray tube. Our MIRRORCLE also achieves a resolution of 10 μm compared with a resolution of about 1 mm achieved by existing linear accelerators. This is done by adopting a minute target. MICROTRON can achieve a resolution of 200 μm, so the penetration ability is high at high energy, and precision non-destructive testing can be realized. This makes it possible to measure minute flaws and dimensions of large-scale structures, heavy-metal structures, and molded articles made by a 3D printer, which had been considered difficult to inspect. [Representative's message] Our company was established to carry out research on the theory of light generation, which bears the foundation of twenty-first century technology, and to develop new light sources. Light is a key technology for human progress, which continues from the past to the present and into the future. The MIRRORCLE super-small synchrotron we have developed is the world’s first tabletop high-intensity light source, which covers a wavelength range from hard X-rays to far-infrared radiation. We hope that our technology will spread to the world as a force for development in medical science, life science, material science, and engineering. [Company structure for market development/overseas expansion] We are a company with small number of staff, but we have manufactured and sold equipment to major companies. Our president directly supports technical inquiries and finds solutions. We conduct design in-house and outsource manufacturing. Equipment assembly and adjustment are carried out in-house. We have been manufacturing and adjusting accelerators for 20 years, so we have no technical problems. We have assigned agents who are familiar with our equipment in Canada, Korea, and India for overseas customer companies. Our president will directly engage in technical discussions with overseas customers. [Market share/Ranking] We supply products to two companies in Japan (globally unique technology).
