Mitajiri Chemical Industry Co., Ltd.
We are experienced in delivering our unique organic chemicals to cosmetics manufacturers.
We are a chemical manufacturer established in 1935. We mainly manufacture and sell inorganic and organic chemicals, such as sodium sulfate and thioglycolic acid sodium salt. We are extending our business volume by also manufacturing and selling bacteria materials as couplants for nondestructive inspections and as promoters for agricultural composting. Our thioglycolic acid sodium salt is a unique product in Japan that is used by major cosmetics manufacturers as the main raw material for depilatories with hardly any odor.
[Company strength] Our company has had a long history of over 80 years since its establishment in 1935. We have an integrated system from raw materials R&D to production. We have established sodium sulfate refining and powder mixing technologies. Our company excels at developing and manufacturing applied inorganic and organic products based on these technologies. We can meet market needs in various industries from cosmetics to civil engineering. We possess development power and technology cultivation to create products by making use of photosynthetic bacteria that are found in the natural world. We now apply our power and technology to produce and sell bacteria materials that are excellent for soil improvement and water purification. We are also promoting the development of applied products with a university. [Business description] Our company was established in 1935 as a sodium sulfate manufacturer, and we began by manufacturing sodium sulfide, sodium hydrogen sulfate, and other products. We advanced into the field of raw materials for cosmetics in 1985. In 2000 we started to cultivate and sell bacteria materials as couplants for nondestructive inspections and as promoters for agricultural composting. We have also been selling bacteria materials as lawn thatch decomposing materials since 2002. In the processing field we succeeded in manufacturing solution-type curing promoters from a subsidiary of a major company and have been continuing OEM production since 1975. [Industry] Manufacturing [Strength of products/technologies] (1) Thioglycolic acid sodium salt: This is a unique product in Japan, which is used by major cosmetics manufacturers as the main raw material for depilatories that have hardly any odor. (2) Couplants used for ultrasonic nondestructive inspections: We have the top market share for this product. It is a medium superior to glycerin, because post-processing such as wiping or washing is unnecessary. Our products have been delivered to more than 340 companies in Japan. (3) Bacteria materials: Our products are capable of producing various functions, such as soil improvement and water purification, depending on the combination of photosynthetic bacteria. They are used as environmentally friendly composting promoters and as thatch decomposing materials at facilities such as soccer stadiums. We are now pursuing joint research with a university to develop new uses. [Representative's message] We aim to be a creative company that considers the future scientifically. We achieve this by taking on the challenge of the unknown through the manufacture and R&D of raw materials for various chemical products. We are now promoting research particularly regarding the application of bacteria materials (Mita Bio) made from environmentally friendly photosynthetic bacteria. Applications include rooftop and wall greening, and we are developing other uses including joint applied research with a university to discover new uses. We hope to make use of J-GoodTech to develop other uses of our Mita Echo couplant by applying its excellent characteristics. [Company structure for market development/overseas expansion] Six of the 20 staff members we currently employ are in charge of developing new uses or products related to existing products and promoting sales. Three are in the sales development department and three in the technical development department. We have no plans for overseas expansion at present because there is sufficient room for exploiting demand in the domestic Japanese market. [Market share/Ranking] (1) Shiseido, Kanebo Cosmetics, Kao, etc.: 60% (estimated share). (2) Construction of Sharp Sakai Factory, Sony Kyushu Factory, Haneda International Airport, Tokyo Skytree etc.: 20% (estimated share). [Awards and media coverage] [Awards] [Media] [Authorization/Certification] Eco Action 21: Certificate and registration no. 0009620. [Joint research and development] None. (We do not apply for patents, because we think that patent application is a double-edged sword. This is because information must be disclosed to some extent.)
