We are a manufacturer that specializes in inorganic EL, which is utilized for backlights of displays for medical equipment, liquid crystal displays, and so on. We handle inorganic EL from development to production. We have a 50% share of the domestic Japanese market for inorganic EL. Our products have been adopted by portable terminal manufacturers in Japan and abroad as LCD backlights and key light sources for portable terminals. We supply in-vehicle interior illumination and so on to the automobile industry. We support high-mix low volume orders. We have a track record of doing business with major domestic Japanese and overseas companies, including Toyota Motor and NOKIA. Our company was selected for 300 of Japan’s Vibrant Monozukuri (Manufacturing) SMEs in 2009.

Our company specializes in manufacturing inorganic EL, and we have been responding to various needs of domestic Japanese and overseas customers since our foundation. We supply high-quality inorganic EL to major electric appliance manufacturers, automobile (parts) manufacturers, terminal equipment manufacturers, and so on. We are proud of our celebrity as a domestic Japanese manufacturer of inorganic EL and our track record of deliveries to first-class enterprises. [Business description]
Erix was found in 1985 as Japan’s first manufacturer specialized in developing and manufacturing inorganic electroluminescence (EL) elements. The company name was changed to Hakodate Sekonic after our relocation to Hakodate. Our company merged with other Sekonic Group enterprises in 2013. Since then we have been supplying EL from development and design to EL business commercialization in line with customer needs as the Hakodate Office of Sekonic Electronics.

[Strength of products/technologies]
Our products enable space-saving mounting, and emit high-quality light which is easy on the eyes. This is why they are adopted for portable terminals around the world as LCD backlights and as key light sources for portable terminals. We supply products such as ship control boards, vehicle license plates with luminous letters, accessory illumination, road signs, and dial lighting for wristwatches and alarm clocks. We also supply high-mix low-volume items such as commercial signboards, interior illumination, in-vehicle interior illumination, and so on.

We have been providing EL for key switch lighting of cellular phones to companies such as NOKIA overseas and Panasonic in Japan. Our products have received high evaluations in terms of production capacity (delivery time) and quality. LEDs are currently gaining prominence as light sources, but we hope to propose new EL light sources as high-class sources of light that are easy on the eyes. Target industries include home electronics, communications, equipment, and automobiles.
